Apple’s 5.6-inch phablet won’t have ‘iPhone’ branding – report

“A new report from Taiwan’s Economic Daily News agrees with countless others in claiming that bigger iPhones are coming this year,” Chris Smith reports for BGR. “According to this report, however, Apple may shock us all and the larger phablet version might not actually be part of the iPhone family.”

“The publication says that Apple will launch a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 (with Corning Gorilla Glass, not sapphire) at some point in the third quarter of the year, possibly a bit earlier than expected,” Smith reports. “However, the larger 5.6-inch iOS smartphone will be an ‘experimental’ device that won’t come with iPhone branding… The publication does not offer an alternative name for the 5.6-inch iPhablet, and it doesn’t mention when it might launch, but says that the bigger smartphone will come with sapphire glass.”

  1. Why are we even bothering to entertain the notion that the “supply chain” knows what a 5.6-in. Apple smartphone/mini-tablet will be called this early into development? That information will probably be a tightly-kept secret at Apple headquarters for a LONG time to come.

I’m so sick of these rumors. Watch Apple surprise everyone by doing something completely different …

  2. A bit off topic . . .
Just make a phone app available in the cellular iPads and win the “size matters” “battle” once and for all.
Oh you got a 6 inch Samsung phablet? I have a 9.7 incher, eat your heart out. 😛

  3. whether an Apple phablet is real or not, this will definitely hold people on buying the new Samdung S5, lol ha ha. Let all rumors
of big screen iPhone begin. Samdung is introducing their new shit
