“Apple Inc promoted Denise Young Smith to lead human resources, selecting an insider with experience in the retail-store division as the iPhone maker seeks to attract and retain top talent,” Peter Burrows reports for Bloomberg.
“Smith is replacing Joel Podolny, who will focus full-time on Apple University, according to Kristin Huguet, a spokeswoman for the Cupertino, California-based company,” Burrows reports. “As growth slows, Apple is competing for employees in Silicon Valley. The company ranks 35 in a survey of best places to work by Glassdoor Inc., down from 10th place in 2012.”
Burrows reports, “Young previously led human resources for Apple’s retail operations, which employed 42,800 of Apple’s 80,300 workers in the latest fiscal year.

This “Growth Slows” crap is just more negative crap these writers just can’t seem to live without. They don’t seem to be able to write a story without it. The concept of ‘fair and balanced’ doesn’t mean that you balance the subject in the article with some unrelated dreamed up crap to ‘balance’ the article
When one is addicted to portraying a fair and balanced view, ones myopic weaknesses are seen by one as a fair and balanced view! Ours is not to rhyme or reason as to the intentions of the author of the supposed “Fair and balanced viewed article”.
They slap that boilerplate in because it fits the prevailing narrative, the one which all journalists default to when cranking out nothing stories that require motivating clauses in their pathetic renderings of press releases and rumours. It is lazy journalism, motivated by a fake and spineless “objectivity” that makes a mockery of what reporting used to be, before advertising changed a noble academic discipline and social good into a force of shambling zombies, overwhelming us and eating our brains.
But you’re not bitter.
Hopefully this HR person listens… 10 to 35…. Not good.
