New Mophie ‘Space Pack’ iPhone case delivers extra power and additional storage

“Looking for an iPhone case that offers power and capacity at the same time? Mophie has a new case that can perform that trick,” Lance Whitney reports for CNET.

“Shipping in March, Mophie’s Space Pack includes its own 1700mAh battery that can pour more juice into your iPhone when its own power gets low,” Whitney reports. “The Space Pack also lends a hand if you’re low on storage. The case comes in two versions — one with 16GB of capacity that costs $149.95 and another with 32GB that runs $179.95. A Space app helps you manage and access the files housed in that extra storage.”

    1. My guess is that it would have its own sandboxed app, like all storage related apps such as dropbox, or any of the file apps. Then you get the option to store stuff there or open stuff from there as usual, but sync directly with iTunes? I doubt it. If you have an mp4 file, for instance, you’d be able to “open with” VLC or some other video app.

      I bet the app will play or show a host of files on its own. I wonder though if it can deal with Apple’s DRM on music and movies.

    its also proof positive that there’s a profitable segment of the market that is more demanding of improved iPhone function and battery life than how thin it is. Let’s hope Apple starts paying more attention to those important specs.
