Apple iPhones dominate sales at all four major U.S. Carriers

“Apple’s latest iPhones are topping the charts at U.S. carriers,” John Paczkowski reports for AllThingsD.

“That’s the latest from Canaccord Genuity analyst T. Michael Walkley, who says that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c have been among the top three sellers at all four major U.S. carriers during the past three months,” Paczkowski reports. “‘Our surveys indicated continued strong sales of the iPhone 5s, as it was by far the top selling smartphone at all four tier-1 U.S. carriers and at most channels where the smartphone launched globally,’ Walkley explained in a note to clients. ‘Our surveys also indicated steady iPhone 5c sales with the smartphone’s color options and more affordable price point proving popular with its intended audience.'”

    1. No, this data seems consistent with the information trends from most of the analyses issued since the release of the new 5s and 5c models.

However, the U.S. market is quite a bit different from the cell phone markets in other countries around the world. In addition, the U.S. market appears to be moving towards non-subsidized phones and non-contract service. These changes will affect future trends and results.

      1. These companies dare not mess with the goose that lays the golden eggs.

They would do well to remember how Apple has increased their bottom line since iPhone and STFU in recognition of their ‘dumb pipe’ role.

    1. Journalist: “hey, boss, how do journalists make any money these days?”
Editor: “Simple! Take a position in Apple, then write a piece about them and include ‘rumor’ in the title – the stock price always goes up on rumors. Then short Apple covering with the shares you bought, and then write a news story on them – the stock will drop and you own even more! Works every time!”
Journalist: “but I don’t know the first thing about Apple?!”
Editor: “So what? Neither do Enderle or Rocco or any of the other guys ‘reporting’ on Apple!”

  1. But remember, kids: Android is crushing Apple every day! It must be true, I read it online all the time!

(sigh) These numbers probably won’t change the narrative, will they? There’s just too many people out there invested in the “Apple is doomed” story, despite all the evidence to the contrary.

    1. The way to defeat these fools is to continue our crusade to lampoon them to the point of extinction. MDN has taught us how: expropriate their doomlike memes and recast them afresh as birthing concepts or ironic counterpoint. And we are doing all right. At least, doom has not arrived at Apple’s doorstep despite the histrionics of a cavalcade of eager, hand-rubbing embalmers.
