Canaccord: Apple’s iPhone 5s ‘by far the top selling smartphone’ in the U.S. for 3rd straight month

“Apple continues to dominate smartphone sales with their flagship iPhone 5s and mid-range iPhone 5c as the handsets took two of the top three sales slots at every major U.S. wireless carrier for the third month in a row,” Shane Cole reports for AppleInsider.

“The Cupertino, Calif.-based company remained America’s top smartphone vendor in November on the back of ‘strong’ iPhone 5s sales and ‘steady’ iPhone 5c sales, according to data cited by Canaccord Genuity analyst T. The iPhone 5s was ‘by far the top selling smartphone…at most channels where the smartphone launched globally,’ Walkley notes.”

  1. But wait, wait, isn’t Android and Samdung winning? I swear I heard Samdung was spending something like a billion more then Apple on advertising and fake product endorsements just to let everyone know how awesome they are.

Oh, I see. I missed that part in the article where they say, “sales” instead of “shipped”. Ah, my bad. 😉

    1. I think a lot of Samsung’s “advertising or promotions” budget is actually undisclosed (to the shopper) commissions or “spiffs” to third-party vendors’ salespeople for pushing shoppers to buy Samsung or other Android brands like Motorola and HTC. I don’t believe Apple ever pays sales’ commissions. So the next time you see all of those carrier’s stores and kiosks in the Malls, like the Sprint, ATT, or Verizon store, be aware that Apple will probably NOT be phone that the salesperson cares to talk about or demonstrate first. Seems to me this is somewhat of a conflict of interest and doesn’t necessarily serve the best interest of the naive shoppers who don’t have a preference or know what phone they want to purchase.
