Apple iPads are 6 of the top 10 selling tablets in Japan

“BCN is a Japanese company that tracks consumer electronic device sales in Japan,” Chuck Jones reports for Forbes.

“It publishes data on a weekly basis and in its latest findings Apple’s iPads were 6 of the top 10 selling tablets and 12 of the top 20,” Jones reports. “In BCN’s findings for the month of November the iPad held the following positions: iPad Air: #1, 5, 9, 10, 13, 14, 18, 22; iPad mini: #2, 8; iPad Retina mini: #15, 17, 19, 28, 29, 30; ASUS’ Nexus 7 rounded out the top 10 in: #3, 4, 6, 7.”

“While Apple’s iPads were not as strong as the iPhone (which are the top 9 selling smartphones) the iPad’s are still doing well,” Jones reports. “It will be interesting to see if the Retina mini can move up from the mid-teens positions since they were only available since mid-November and their supply was probably limited.”

  1. Ladies & gentlemen, coming in at #20 we have the BlackBerry PlayBook which in Japan is used as a cutting board to make Canadian sushi. Japanese sushi is made from live fish but you have to be a dead fish before you can become Canadian sushi.

And at #19 we have the HP TouchPad which in Japan is used as a hubcap for Toyota cars.

Sliding in at #18 we have the Samsung Galaxy Tab which in Japan is used as a fly swatter, it’s 16:10 screen ratio being particularly well suited to swat Japanese flies.

Coming in at #17 we have the Microsoft Surface Pro which in Japan is used as a musical instrument in karaoke bars, the clicking sound of the lid closing makes for a wonderful musical instrument.
