Analyst: Apple iPad makes big enterprise gains as Android tablets fail to take hold

“94 percent of the Fortune 500 and more than 85 percent of the Global 500 are testing or deploying iPads,” John Paczkowski reports for AllThingsD.

“For a product so young, that’s impressive enterprise penetration. And it should become more so in the year ahead,” Paczkowski reports. “This according to Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair, who says he’s seen big gains for the iPad in business over the last few months. The reasons? BlackBerry’s collapse and Android’s failure to gain meaningful traction in the enterprise space.”

Paczkowski reports, “‘[Android] is seeing very low adoption rates in the enterprise overall, particularly with tablets,’ Blair said in a note to clients this week. ‘We believe that most IT managers are avoiding the platform for large-scale rollouts and support due in large part to malware concerns.'”

        1. Some people prefer to spend 200 hours eating burgers than appreciate the skill in something like this, all to their own I guess but a little sad. The point of this was to show the capability but clearly that simple capacity to think laterally is beyond some.

        2. I’m going to let you in on a little secret.

          Anybody can do this.

          Simply take any original photograph and begin to blur and sketch over top of it. Record all of your actions. Then replay the recording backwards to start off from a blank “canvas” and finish on a photorealistic image (the actual photograph – it doesn’t get anymore photorealistic.)

          Voila, you’re a YouTube sensation!

          If the mimic who “drew” Morgan Freeman’s photo didn’t do this, he should have – it would have accomplished the exact same effect.

          Art isn’t mimicry. If it were, Samsung would be artists.

        3. No talent. Talent is creativity. This is technical precision. Not an iota of talent. Also . . The photograph is copyrighted, so distributing it is illegal, just like Samsung.

    2. The artist is hiding the first layer, which is the photograph he is duplicating. So why go to all that work to exactly duplicate what is already there? Art is creation, not duplication.

  1. Little too restrictive for me. I wish you could control your files manually. Would love to see iOS allow you to mount the device as a hard drive and have a folder setup like your Home Directory in OS X. Pictures folder, Movies folder, Contacts, SMS, etc…..

    Like that stopped them from deploying Windows by the barge-load.

  3. Why doesn’t Apple simply set up some Enterprise division to push hard for sales. Do like what Dell or H-P would do and send out reps to convince those businesses to buy iPads. It seems like a big opportunity to pass up with only a minimum of effort.

  4. IMHO. This is the reason Apple still sells the iPad 2. Enterprise takes time to test products before deploying. I know a large bank that is about to deploy iPad 2s. The first Mini’s have the same specs as the 2. Should not be hard to accept those too.
