Google’s Eric Schmidt loses touch with reality

“Not long ago, Eric Schmidt, late of Apple’s board of directors and the present executive chairman at Google, made the silly claim, at a public event no less, than Android was more secure than iOS,” Gene Steinberg writes for The Tech Night Owl. “Well, perhaps that was his profound belief, though it bought nothing but laughter from the audience. You could almost feel that Schmidt had become the politician who sticks to ridiculous talking points regardless of the facts.”

MacDailyNews Take: That, or he’s as Gatesian as we suspect.

“Well, it appears that Schmidt is at it again, this time pretending that loads of iPhone users are rushing to move from iOS to Android. So he writes, ‘many of my iPhone friends are converting to Android. The latest high-end phones from Samsung (Galaxy S4), Motorola (Verizon Droid Ultra) and the Nexus 5 (for AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile) have better screens, are faster, and have a much more intuitive interface. They are a great Christmas present to an iPhone user!'” Steinberg writes. “Or is that the equivalent of putting a brick in your Christmas stocking?”

“As with his bizarre comments about the Android security situation, Schmidt is imagining situations that don’t exist when it comes to the iPhone compared to his preferred handsets,” Steinberg writes. “Now I don’t dispute his contention that “many of his friends are converting to Android.” Perhaps he limits his association to people who aren’t using iPhones, or are leaving the platform for some reason. In the real world, several times as many people leave Android for the iPhone than vice versa.”

  1. According to Schmidt, the world’s app developers were going to be writing for Android more than a year ago, and the majority of TVs shipping today were supposed to have Google TV in them.

    1. This. The majority of people I know who started out with an Android device as their first smartphone have upgraded to an iPhone when their contracts were up. I guess Android is the “starter” platform.

  2. He should be more worried about the price he will pay when he eventually expires on this planet. Unlike most good people, The Slug Trail Mole will be down under getting a special butt treatment like Adolf did from tha movie Little Nikki.

  3. I know I am suppose to be nice so close to Christmas, but if you are friends with the thief Schmidt, you are already a questionable character. The fact the you might use an inferior product, like an Android phone, is totally not surprising and just says more about your questionable character and poor choices in life.

    1. i say to his “gurlfriend” eat schmidt and die… only i don’t want it to be h*im/er that dies, just eric….

not even then, he would be getting off too easy’,,,

      just bite

  4. The pronouncements of Eric Schmidt strike me as the desperate ravings of a deranged follower of Cthulhu, mind twisted by too many hours chanting in a gloomy temple, perhaps poisoned by lichens caressing its stone altar, or driven mad by psychotropic toxins oozing from a verdigris-encrusted secret Google laboratory.
