“Quanta Computer has reportedly landed orders for Apple’s rumored large-size iPad for mass production in the second half of 2014, while Inventec, Quanta and Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) are currently competing over Apple’s iWatch orders, according to sources from the upstream supply chain,” Aaron Lee and Joseph Tsai report for DigiTimes.
“Apple has been separating its orders among multiple ODMs recently and has given some of its iPad and iPhone orders to Compal Communications and Wistron, respectively,” Lee and Tsai report. “Apple is also rumored be planning to release a 12.9-inch iPad in 2014 with Quanta in charge of manufacturing the device, the sources noted.”
“As for the iWatch, component makers have already started the pilot production,” Lee and Tsai report, “but because of low yields, mass production is rumored to have been postponed from the first quarter of 2014 to the second.”

I would love a 12.9 inch iPad to go with my 5.9 inch iPhone!!! Obviously I’m trying to overcompensate for something but I do like my bigger screens!!!

iWatch? No, thanks. I doubt that one would easily navigate on such a minuscule screen. Why not simply buy a wrist band for your iPhone or iPod? Sure, you won’t be glamorous, but at least your wrist-wrapped doo-dad would be functional.
I think it will be more in line with a nike fuelband that just happens to have a watch, with biosensors and such. Kinda like the iPhone is a computer that just happens to make calls.
So what’s the point of the iWatch if Nike has already developed it? I’m sure that Nike’s product is designed for the hardcore athlete, not the typical overweight, gluttonous American.
Some of you guys could have got an analyst job prior to the iPod, iPhone and iPad you know with your inability for lateral thinking.
Thinking is a process unknown by fanboys – the Pavlov dogs of rumors who salivate in direct proportion to the incredulity of the speculation.
Why so late to the game? Makes more sense to release the iPad “Pro” in the spring. Perhaps they are focusing their energies on the iWatch?
If it can’t run OSX then what’s the point.
Don’t get me wrong… I simply love my iPad Air, but there’s no file system and no credible alternative for Office, in my opinion.
I have a Lenovo-Atom-Windows-convertible tablet that is useless as a tablet with Win 8, but I still use it at work with the keyboard accessory as a laptop. The keyboard allows for two USB ports and I’m running Office 2013.
I would love a larger iPad, but not just as a casual consumption machine. I would like to install Office and printer drivers on it and use it for work, instead of my POS Windows tab.
I use MS Office on my iDevices every day. There are solutions out there and they perform just like the desktop versions do.

i seriously doubt Apple would create such a large iPad, it would be hard to work with, to big to handle and the weight would increase to much
I hope Apple builds neither, bigger isn’t always better and iWatch tech is not mature enough to be useful.
