Apple dominates China tablet market with 51.7% unit share

According to Analysys International, 4.353 million consumer tablets were sold in China during the third quarter of 2013.

Sales increased 21.7% sequentially and 67.2% year over year, Analysys International said.

There was likely a pause in iPad buying in China (and worldwide) ahead of widely-expected new iPad models.

Apple’s new iPad Air was not announced until well into fourth quarter on October 22, 2013.

iPad Air Wi-Fi models only became available for sale in China on Friday, November 1.

    1. Even sadder than this is the imminent departure of that rock star demi-god of a CEO that is Steve Ballmer, the greatest CEO Apple inc. never had!!!
He was the counter point or counter weight that balanced Apple incs. performance in the tech space so beautifully and he did not even get a wage for it!!!

      1. Now that Steve Ballmer is on his way out, many of us feel a sadness, a lassitude, a loss of purpose. No longer can we use him as a punching bag, a straw man, a symbol of criminal ineptitude, a rallying cry of liberation from truncheon-wielding IT goons.

The next CEO of Microsoft will never possess the unholy presence of a supernatural entity from an H. Rider Haggard novel, as Steve Ballmer did. Steve’s performance art will never be replicated; it can only be parodied, and become the literature of a vanished world of carnival hucksterism, suitable only for inclusion in a future Smithsonian walkthrough commentary, in an exhibit of technology failures.

  1. So, IDC, where are all those android tablets that you claim have lowered the iPad to a “29.6%” market share?! Not in North American, not in Europe, not in Japan, not in China, not even in South Korea were I live. Someday maybe the mainstream media will begin challenging IDC on their suspiciously odd number.

  2. Those are huge and surprising numbers, especially considering they don’t reflect the iPad Air release and no China Mobile yet. China Mobile has more subscribers than everybody else combined…the potential of that market swallows the US market, which we use as the stir stick for our perception of how Apple is doing.
