“I confessed my fascination with Mordy Tikotzky’s Apple-Tracker.com when I posted a story about it earlier this week,” Philip Elmer-DeWitt reports for Fortune. “Tikotzky had written a handy little widget that steered customers to the Apple Stores in or near their Zip Code most likely to have the newest iPhones and iPads in stock.”
P.E.D. reports, “Well, it was fun while it lasted, as Tikotzky told visitors Tuesday:”
Good Bye ☹
I’ve deciced to turn off the site. I’m not doing this because I want to, but rather because I received a DMCA takedown notice from Apple.
I’m not really interested in picking a fight with apple so….. I guess it time to just say good bye.
Before I go though I just wanted to says thanks to all of you for the nice comments and emails that you’ve sent in the last few weeks.
It was fun while it lasted.
Mordy

sad… just sad
And pathetic on Apples part. Always a love hate thing with them.
Crapple has turned fascist a while ago. Maybe when Tim Dick Crook took over and started sucking the brown ape’s dick.
While I generally thought the site was useful, Apple can’t let something like this be done. It is too easy for the website to manipulate the data. In an extreme case this could lead to stock manipulation. In addition, untimely data could lead to a large amount of customer dissatisfaction.
Come-on!! This was a great site. I got a 64GB gold phone using it when none were around. The site emailed me and I quickly went onto the apple site and bought one for pick-up. What’s the harm in that? Is it better for Apple if people are forced to check their store every 10 seconds?
This move is bad for apple consumers. Either Apple should do it themselves or leave Mordy alone!!!!!
Apple should have paid him to integrate the widget into their site.
they will integrate without paying
While Mordy’s intentions were good and helpful, ultimately someone would figure out how to rig the stats to their advantage and the disadvantage of others. Sadly, that’s how the seedy side of humanity always functions.
