T-Mobile USA sold more tablets on iPad Air launch day than during entire prior quarter

“T-Mobile said the arrival of the iPad on its network allowed the company to sell more tablets last Friday than it sold during the entire prior quarter,” Ina Fried reports for AllThingsD.

“T-Mobile didn’t provide a specific sales number, but its claim jibes with those made by other carriers,” Fried reports. “AT&T said on Monday that the launch of the iPad Air saw Apple tablet sales triple those from last fall’s iPad launch weekend.”

  1. Ahh, but Google sys their Android OS is taking over so, oh, but no lines when an Android tablet is released, I see.

But they’re giving away gazoodles of the Google OS, so Google is winning.

    1. That’s because they “ship” billions just to create the illusion they are winning something but in actuality they’ve only “sold” 10. haha

Haven’t you ever been to Costco and seen all those boxes completely full of unsold Android tablets. BTW, Costco requires them to buy all un-sold items back. I guess we never hear about those (returned) numbers now do we.

  2. And how many of those purchases were unnecessarily unsatisfied customers due to T-Mobile’s piss poor handling of this launch event. I’ve never seen a bigger reason for Apple to become their own Carrier than this debacle.

  3. T-Mobile has given the two biggest dumb pipe gorillas, ATT and Verizon, some serious indigestion this year and hopefully this will be the beginning of the end of their strong-handed grip and stranglehold.

  4. Yeah, it was a shock to see how a big company like T-Mobile could mess up so badly with this iPad Air rollout. I think the CEO impulsively threw out the 200 MB carrot before anyone in the company knew what to do, they were totally unprepared for this. It was hilarious to see how bottom-feeder oriented T-Mobile is, with customer support staff speaking some language that I barely recognized as English. The quality control at T-Mobile sucks, that’s for sure.
