T-Mobile USA CEO tweets ‘I don’t know what I’d do without my Samsung Note 3’ – from his Apple iPhone 5s

“T-Mobile chief executive John Legere intended to use Twitter to direct attention to Samsung Mobile’s latest Note 3 phablet, but inadvertently did so via his new iPhone 5s, joining a list of major figures who have made the same mistake,” Daniel Eran Dilger reports for AppleInsider.

Legere tweeted ‘Glad @SamsungMobile decided to bring phablets to the states. I don’t know what I’d do without my #Note3!’ The tweet attached a link to a story explaining how Samsung ‘conquered the ‘phablet’ market,'” Dilger reports. “It also noted that it had been sent via Twitter for iPhone, metadata that is attached automatically. Notified of that, Legere responded within minutes, ‘oops. I carry both as you may know! That was funny.'”

Dilger reports, “He then followed up with a photo (below) of a gold iPhone 5s alongside a Note 3 and a Galaxy Gear watch, indicating that Samsung’s big screen phablet isn’t a suitable replacement for a standard sized phone, even when paired with the company’s new wrist-attached $299 Bluetooth headset.”

MacDailyNews Take: Oh, look, Johnny claims to wear the world’s most horribly reviewed stupidwatch. How fitting.

Dilger reports, “Sending promotional tweets about other products from Apple’s iOS devices seems to be quite popular. Last year, Oprah Winfrey used an iPad to send out tweets endorsing Microsoft’s Surface, using the hashtag ‘#FavoriteThings’ to say she had bought a dozen of them for Christmas gifts. After BlackBerry paid Alicia Keys to serve as its Creative Director, she sent a personal tweet from her iPhone in February, then removed it and claimed her account had been “hacked.””

MacDailyNews Take: People who promote convicted patent infringer and Apple knockoff peddler Samsung’s poorly assembled plastic junk using their Apple products are missing the irony gene, among others.

Hey, John, if you can get this data through one of the 12 operational towers you have in the USA: By allowing you to carry iPhones, Apple saved your failing outfit thereby keeping your stupid ass employed.

Don’t ever forget it, ingrate.

        1. Chris!!!
          Retract your words!
Imagine how much better the country would be with the outstanding personality of botvijerk in charge!
          botvijerk messiah for President!

      1. I’d like to think they all just say to themselves, “Sure I’ll take Samsung’s cash and tweet some unctuous praise for one of their pos products ‘from my iPhone’ and … Oh, oops… sorry! Sad Face emoji.”

  1. I’ve never really looked at the Note 3 before, but wonder if that metal band around the glass serves any purpose, I.e, do SameSung use that as an antenna?
But let’s be fair to John, he may have been in a public place when he needed to tweet. He may have been enbarrassed if some member of the Public asked, “is that a phablet in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”.

  2. gawd almighty could you imagine having that plank in your pocket? Usability includes unobtrusiveness don’t it? Not to mention all the other experiential shortcomings: screen quality, build quality / materials, garbage ecosystem. my ever-ready iPhone vanishes in my pocket until needed

  3. Cook is running scared of Android and Samsung TouchWiz. He is so scared of Android’s absolute 85% dominance and Apple’s 10%, and falling, sliver of the smartphone market that he instructed Ive to design iOS 7 to copy features and looks from Android. That’s how scared Cook is.

It looks like Steve Jobs’ prediction of Apple owning 1% of the smartphone market share is coming true. At the rate of decline, I expect single digit share in 2014 and less than 5% share in 2015. Sad but true.

    1. Just because you declare something to be “true” does not make it so. That is a common mistake. Even if iPhone adoption were to flatten out or begin a decline (and the 9 million 5s/5c units sold in only three days indicates that the reverse is true), it would never roll off as fast as your asinine 2015 “expectation.”

Most of us on this forum welcome well-reasoned debate and contrarian views. But your kind of anonymous tripe is a waste of everyone’s time.

    2. I’m scared because there are people like you prowling the streets. But then again, you’re so stupid you’ll probably step in front of a bus before you can do any real harm to someone else.

    3. Scared Cock, you, like all the other stupid trolls, continue to spout rubbish about Apple’s diminishing market share and dominance, but nothing you say has any connection with the real world. Market share is meaningless, as I’m no doubt you’re actually aware, because the comparison is between Apples and Oranges; one is a manufacturer of high technology devices, which share a common operating system, the other is an operating system that is given away free, for any manufacturer to adopt and modify as they see fit, which can appear on any type of device, often not even a phone or tablet. Only the ignorant, or congenitally stupid, would try to compare any market involving these products.
And my own personal observations of what people actually use in the street shows me that 80-90% of people using mobile phones and tablets are using iPhones. Fact. I was watching people in London, one of the world’s busiest and most cosmopolitan cities, and of every ten or so people I personally watched in the British Museum, on the Underground, and at a Peter Gabriel concert at the O2 Arena, 8 or 9 had an iPhone in their hands, and occasionally an iPad. Those who weren’t were using Blackberry phones, old Nokia’s, or other generic Android smartphone, Samsung, LG, Nokia, or whatever. Can’t say I saw a single Windows Phone in use at all.
Carry on living in your funny little fantasy world, if it makes you happy, though.

  4. Maybe I am just a conspiracy theorist but does the placement of the watch in this photo mean anything? It is conveniently covering the carrier details in the corner. You can clearly see on the iPhone it is connected to T Mobile, but on the phablet you cannot see anything..

    1. Good point. The natural place for the watch would be on the table above the iPhone and the elephantitis phone. It does seem to be placed awkwardly on the top of the unholy monstrosity to hide something. Strange.

    2. Very, VERY astute, rbrooks!

I, too, thought the placement of the “watch” was rather odd . . . but you explained it perfectly! That Samesong phablet is NOT his, nor is it connected to T-Mobile!

  5. Oprah Winfrey used an iPad to send out tweets endorsing Microsoft’s Surface, using the hashtag ‘#FavoriteThings’ to say she had bought a dozen of them for Christmas gifts.

    Horrifying.
    Oh Oprah.
    The shame.
    The resentment. 😳 🙄

  6. “Legere tweeted ‘Glad @SamsungMobile decided to bring phablets to the states. I don’t know what I’d do without my #Note3!’

Perhaps being able to say the truth without promotional payments received.

  7. Hey, MacDailyNews:

T-Mobile needs Apple… and Apple needs T-Mobile. What would Apple do without carriers such as (put names here)? Nobody rescued anyone. It’s business strategy. That said, this stupid CEO is a shame.

    1. apple does not need T-mobile

from churn rates any carrier in USA that doesn’t carry iPhone will die.
At the start nobody wanted iPhone except AT&T. Verizon was tops at the time and didn’t believe it needed the iPhone but with iPhone AT&T kept stealing it’s customers . so Verizon (remember it’s CEO said originally he was happy with his Android strategy, spending 100 million to promote the Droid etc ) had to CAVE IN to Apple’s demands.
Today 50% of Verizon , At&T sales comes from iPhone.

without iPhone T mobile would be dead in few years.

      1. Oh, yeah. Give the whole piece of cake to Android then. It seems to me you forget easily or you don’t know the whole history. Transport yourself to the years when At&T was the only carrier for iPhone due to a seemingly never ending exclusive contract between Apple and such carrier. Android was eating Apple’s cake share happily thanks to that contract. If At&T were still the only carrier for iPhone… things would be very hard for Apple to make iPhone prevail.

        1. check your own history dude:

apple was raking in BILLIONS and BILLIONS (from a start of Zero). apple knew that Verizon and the rest would cave.

“Android was eating Apple’s cake share happily thanks to that contract. ”

what market share was Apple losing? . Android was only eating the market share of BB, Win Phones, Symbian etc. If iPhone was on NOT on Verizon etc and they shifted to android what market share can iPhone lose (when they are not on those carriers?) Get that? you can’t ‘lose market share’ when you’re not on them.

When iPhone was on only AT&T, subscribers were defecting from Verizon to go there to get iPhones. Units of iPhones sold have increased every year, Go check your own facts dude. Today iPhone in USA matches or outsells ALL the other smart phones put together.

  8. the CEO’s biggest regret about the whole mess is that now he is FORCED to use his Samsung at least part of the time as people are watching him …

    (that is punishment enough).

You can probably see him mumbling to himself as he struggles with his Note : “f..king piece of %$&&* !”

  9. This is actually good. It’s a huge slap in the face for Samsung Army of Drones…what an embarrassment for them knowing that most favorable words about Samsung from people is PAYOLA! haha
