“The dark horse is a 13-inch iPad that is a replacement for full-fledged laptops,” Arora writes. “If this dark horse appears, the technical setup in Apple stock is such that the stock can easily rocket to $600 and beyond.”
Arora writes, “Such a device would be a game changer because it would be the first tablet from Apple that would be a full-fledged laptop replacement. This would open up a totally new segment that Apple could lead until the competition catches up. There would be big demand for such a device among corporate customers. The introduction of such a device would also calm critics who are fearful that Apple has stopped innovating.”

1. MaxiPad.™
2. The competition hasn’t caught up, yet, so what makes you think they ever will, 13-inch iPad or not.
3. The naysayers would immediately say that there is no innovation in simply making a bigger iPad (ignoring 64-bitness, M7, Touch ID, and any Apple apps designed specifically for optimal performance on a larger iPad).
13″ iPad would weigh about 1 kg (or more), so I am not sure that Apple would ever do it.
You are not sure? Well I am. I am sure there will be not 13″ iPad tomorrow. Probably never. Leave that to Samsung and BLN.
Never say never, particularly when it comes to Apple. Having said that… 0% chance of it happening tomorrow.
I’ve been using mine more and more as a second screen, mostly with my laptop. All of my midi apps, Logic in particular, FCP, Photoshop all have apps that connect to my computer in some way. When I need documentation I go to the iPad so I can read while I’m still in the application. When I have a powerpoint or word doc with changes I need to implement in AE or C4D I go to my iPad. A bigger screen would be welcome here. If there was pen support, all the better – I’d get rid of PS in a second if I could. As processors and batteries get better and lighter, this may be a true laptop replacement.
Agreed, no 13″ iPad. That’s ridiculous, and no, a 13″ iPad could NOT replace a laptop — they do different things.
iOS 7 cannot run OS X apps. There are simply some things which are better done on a phone/tablet, and some that are better done on a laptop/desktop.
For now that may be true. As processors get faster a lot of the tasks I currently perform on my laptop will be moved to my iPad. I never said I wanted to run OS X apps on an iPad. But as more apps get written for iPad correctly, they will replace desktop apps I do use – it’s happening already. Right now my iPad augments OS X. I can see using an iPad as a main device in the not too distant future. Not in a gross Microsoft frankenstein way, but in a holistic Apple way. For my work I will always need the raw power of the mac pro, but will I always need a laptop? I’m not so sure.
And yet, all of you were stating that Apple was NEVER going to release a iPad mini! I wish you people would just say you would not buy a iPad maxi and let the consumer marketplace decide for theirselves. I personally would welcome a larger iPad for home & I would like for Apple to offer a telephony radio chip in the iPads so I can take my iPhone sim out & stick it in any of my iPads and use the unlimited data as I see fit. But Apple probably won’t, so I will take what they offer. But I would not say NEVER,

I suspect the 13″ iPad will sell as well as Tiger Woods’ used underwear. Well, if you’re laptop dancer, it’ll sell crazy well, but otherwise…crickets… 🙂

Really? A 13″ iPad would not be innovative. If taking an existing product and slapping a bigger screen on it is innovation, then we live in sad times.
This analyst needs to learn what true innovation is.
I could see Apple building a larger version iPad in conjunction with one of two things:
1. They have incorporated some sort of stylus support (for artists etc)
2. The screen was capable of scanning documents
I have read that Apple has played around with these ideas (applied for patents etc) and imagine that the stylus will eventually happen. But the point is that Apple won’t introduce that size unless it actually solves some sort of problem.
I agree. A larger iPad with pressure sensitive stylus input would be a boon to artists.

The new lighter smaller form factor with 64bit processor and fingerprint detector is enough of a change for this upgrade

Hope so. I’ve been wanting a larger but still very light iPad for some time. 11 – 12 seems a nice fit, 13″ is too big.
If any of these fantasies is missing tomorrow, AAPL will drop $50 and of course Apple is doomed or something. I can hardly wait until the pundits return to say that Apple can’t innovate anymore.

News flash Nigam, the dark horse is you and the other so call journanalists that put forth these speculative “may be product: and “if they do it will make us look good” followed by “then the stock price will be further manipulated” that DEFINITELY set up anyone to fail.
So Nigam, thanks to freedom of speech you can do the oracle bit, and still pretend you are a jouranalist (when really you are not reporting any news, you are just following the whore street recipe of speculation) but rests assured the laws of karma are already in action, so do check out who is riding that dark horse when it comes trotting your way. You might find that it’s a headless horseman, and if that’s the case, you will be definitely in good company.
I can see a larger iPad as has been discussed elsewhere. It will be a niche market but no harm in serving those who could use it. Probably not this year.
I would welcome the 13″ iPad
I have no idea if a larger screen iPad is in the works. As an aging baby-boomer, I would welcome anything that panders to my weakening eyesight.

Dediu said in a recent podcast that he’s “all about” a larger iPad and that it is overdue. If they can keep the form factor only slightly larger (but thinner) than generations 3&4 (and keep the weight the same), then they will have a huge hit. If it comes with Touch ID, I will be sold day 1 and get one for the home. iPads are great home devices, and a large one that never leaves the house would suit my needs perfectly.
While I doubt we will see a 13″ iPad, I would love to see one with OSX instead of IOS. I want the power of OSX. I want to run regular Mac apps. I want user accounts. I don’t think Apple will make one. It would really just be a MacBook Air without the keyboard.
What I would really love to see is the iPad mini with cellular voice service. Instant leapfrog over the phablets. Largest smartphone on the market! I wouldn’t buy one, I think the whole huge screen on a phone is a silly idea but it would shut up those android fans.
My guess, Samsuck will put out a 13″ tablet just to say they did it first. (like the watch, and the curved display)
They should change this site’s name to “Mac Daily Rumors and Speculations” or “Mac Daily Analysts Rampage”.
Don’t know if tomorrow will be the time of 12 to 14 inch iPad but with lighter willow glass and other weight reduced components I expect it within the next 15 months and once done the same techniques will be used for larger displays even desktop and TV sizes! And the iPad will soon replace laptops and desktops!
I don’t think Macs will muddy tomorrows announcements i expect it to be all iPad! Will they sell? Absolutely; and iOS 7 will be updated and debugged!
Of course analysts will write that Apple didn’t innovate and it won’t make your coffee Apple is doomed blah blah blah but the buyers will vote with some models quickly sold out or in short supply!
The new apps we don’t know about yet will have design and capabilities that will amaze and delight kids of all ages!
If Acer can do it, why not just make all notebooks with touch screens? Wacom seemed to start that ball rolling. Then came iPhones & iPads. And I think the touchscreen mni windows notebooks took the touch screen and beat Apple out at its own tech. I know nothing about product Dev but I was surprised that Acer book had one & my brand new MBPS didn’t. To do again? If the 13″ has the same capacities as a laptop, then I wouldn’t own both an iPad & MBP definitely. And if the 13″ isn’t a MBP without ext keys and really just a maxi-pad, I’d stick w a MBP & retina iPad forget a 13″. Which I agree would be as much innovation as the 5C. Seems like another Rolling Stones semi disguised greatest hits album. Nice. But not needed. Definitely not a game changer. IMHO.
13″ is for sissified hipsters with atrophied arms. Bring on the 17″ iPad!
