“Apple sent invites for an event in California on Sept. 10, presumably to announce the iPhone 5S,” Chris Ciaccia reports for TheStreet. Now, it’s sent out an invite for the day after, in China. The event in China is scheduled to take place at Beijing’s World Trade Center, and it’s important since this is the first time Apple has ever held an event specifically for the Chinese media. Presumably, the event is to announce either the low-cost iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5C, a deal with China Mobile, or perhaps both. My bet is on the latter, as Apple has increasingly made China a focus.”
MacDailyNews Take: September 11th in the “World Trade Center?” Ballsy scheduling, Apple!
“It’s interesting to note that the event at Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., takes place on Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. EDT, whereas the event in China takes place Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. local time, leaving not much time between events,” Ciaccia reports. “A deal with China Mobile (presuming that’s what the announcement is about) would be a huge boon not only for the world’s largest carrier, but Apple as well. When discussing first-half results of 2013, China Mobile said it had 740 million customers at the end of the first half of 2013, up 8.4% from a year earlier. At the end of June, it had 137.9 million 3G users, which is the segment Apple is targeting.”

Since there is no associations in China of 11th September with anything, let alone with World Trade Center, there should be no issues.
Of course, the World Trade Center episode was a drama. Yet, many, many, many dramas happened, are happening nowadays and will still happen in the future. We cannot even imaging any date that woudn’t have its memorial…
I once worked for Enron on the 13th floor of the World Trade Center (in Portland).
China mobile !!!!
I assume that Apple’s Hong Kong server farm is now up and running. (could be others too.) The new iPhones are ready and they work on the China Mobile cell towers now. And Siri speaks the local dialog. Ok, all set and ready to take their share of 67% of the world’s biggest market of cell users. So, what would even a third of that be on Apple’s bottom line?
Oh, your goin’ alright. To the moon Alice!
It will be interesting to see who will be on stage in China.
Kane
Ah the MDN take on 9-11, boo hoo hoo, I guess many still haven’t learned the lesson in karma obviously or they would remember how a terrorist government removed a democratically elected one.
The other 9-11, read it and learn some humility or the bitch of a payback will continue…syriasley.

Yes, and 10am in China will be 10pm, ET on Sept 10th in the US. So, the events are approx 9 hours apart.
It’s not the next day…it’s the same day since China is on the other side of the IDL. Wonder how Mr. Cook is going to bi-locate himself???
Fire. Tim. Cook!
