“Every year Apple puts on the iTunes Festival in London, and many of the biggest names in music perform,” Alex Heath reports for Cult of Mac.
“One headliner and a lesser-known band play every day for the month of September,” Heath reports. “Tickets are free, but seating is extremely limited.”
Heath reports, “But that’s ok, because over the past couple of years Apple has gotten really good at streaming the entire iTunes Festival for free—that’s right, no ads! For the whole month of September you can stream professionally shot shows in HD on just about any Apple device.”

Last year was awesome! Just wish they wouldn’t kill the archives after a couple of months. Love to go back watch the P!nk or Nora Jones concert again, plus others.
iTunes Festival is Apple unequivocally showing us the future of broadcast television.
Its all there to see; live broadcast HD streaming seamlessly. It starts on time at precisely 8 PM London time, every night. This is Apple demonstrating, for any who care to notice, the way television works when you combine broadcast quality with internet distribution. Killer, just killer.
The App is the Channel!
It would be very nice if Apple didn’t needlessly restrict streaming to iTunes versions 11+.
There is no reason that Apple should plan to obsolete all versions of its premier media application that were enjoyed before November 2012 — i.e., demand its users update to the latest de-contented software version in 9 months — but then just accept the fact that Apple fails to update other software and hardware for multiple years. iWork 2009 anyone?
Mike, you still don’t get it.
Performers / studios own the content. Its not free. Its not meant to be copied and passed out. So there must be ways to secure the content. Its not perfect and Apple is working with the content providers and technology to make it better. That is why you may not be able to just plug your tv into your computer (with dvd copier in middle) to watch content. It is required to be secure by content providers.
Just saying. It aint magic, it takes work.
Are you implying that iTunes 10 has inadequate content owner protection?
Or are you claiming that Apple can’t stream their special events to people who have only Quicktime installed?
I wish they would add in “Steve Jobs” somewhere!
