“Voice recognition software firm Nuance has sent a marketing email to developers suggesting that iOS 7 will arrive on September 10th,” Josh Ong reports for TNW.
“‘As you are probably aware, iOS 7 GA will be released on September 10th,’ the email reads,” Ong reports. “While the email certainly gets hopes up for users excited for the next version of iOS, Nuance is unlikely to have inside information about Apple’s movements. In fact, it may just be basing its assumptions on earlier reports that Apple will unveil the next iPhone on September 10th.”
Ong reports, “As Matthew Panzarino noted on Twitter, Nuance may mistakenly be referring to speculation about the GM [Gold Master] release, rather than GA [General Availability].”

What’s the difference? GA GM, it’s the same build… Devs will get the GM on Sept 10, if and only if, that is the day the announcement takes place.
Either they know, or they are guessing. However I would trust they know more than you do, Josh. Mostly because of SIRI.

I think releasing it so soon is unlikely since iOS is definitely not ready in its current state for the iPAD.

These release date rumours, and photos of the purported new iPhone models, if true, are a real problem. I thought it was bad with the release of the iPhone 5 last year, but this is just ridiculous. Something’s gotta give at the top if all this proves to be true again.
Do you really expect a complete watertight secrecy when millions of phones are being ramped up at the moment and thousands of developer have access to the latest builds?
Back in the early days I used to be able to DL builds of the next MacOSX. Someone would leak it out. I always had the GM 1-2 weeks before the official release.
With all of the parts suppliers involved in the next iPhone it is also not surprising that a few parts leak out.
This creates hype ahead of the release. How many average people bother to get Android phones on the day of release? Not many. There are plenty of people I know who are not tech geeks that knew a new iPhone was coming out and bought one as soon as they were on sale.
These announcement rumors certainly haven’t hurt the stock. I’m happy.
