“Looks as if Adrian Fenty took the phrase ‘Go West, young man’ to heart — and has done very well for himself,” Roxanne Roberts and Amy Argetsinger report for The Washington Post.
“Last year, the former D.C. mayor scored a plum job with Andreessen Horowitz, one of Silicon Valley’s hottest venture capital firms,” Roberts and Argetsinger report. “Now we’ve learned that Fenty is dating Laurene Powell Jobs, the billionaire widow of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. The two met at a Houston education conference in 2011 and bonded over a shared passion for school reform. In February 2012, Fenty joined the board of College Track, a non-profit college prep program for underserved students co-founded by Powell Jobs.”
Roberts and Argetsinger report, “Sources tell us the relationship began as a friendship and blossomed into a ‘budding romance’ around the time Fenty and his wife, Michelle, formally announced their separation in January. The Fenty marriage had been rumored to be on the rocks for months; there’s no indication that Powell Jobs had any role in the split. (The divorce is close to completion but not yet finalized.)”
“When Jobs died in October 2011, the businesswoman and mother of three inherited an estate of about $10 billion — mostly Apple and Disney stock — making her one of the richest women in America,” Roberts and Argetsinger report. “[Fenty] officially separated in the beginning of this year; they have three children.
We asked Fenty and Powell Jobs about their new romance; both declined our requests for comment.”

[Thanks to MacDailyNews readers too numerous to mention individually for the heads up.]
and i thought she was going to be a nun
This reminds me.. Edith, bring me some Oreos!
Really?
the bezos propaganda machine is already up and running.
Alrighty, hope this is not similar to John Kerry’s Heinz corporation love.
Beware of politicians, ex or other wise.
Better Adrian Fenty than Filthy Filner.
What about Fenty going after Huma Weiner?
No, no, no, Laurene, it’s:
“Once you go Mac, you never go back!”
hahahahaha, very good.
OK. That was good.
Whatever you do Laurene make sure you have him sign a prenuptial agreement – those iMind plans are still locked up in the basement right?
Fenty found and hired Michelle Rhee to fix DC schools. In short order Fenty and Rhee alienated an entire city and DC schools are no better off.
The forces of incompetence defeated Michelle Rhee. Are you blaming Fenty for that?
-jcr
I’m not defending DC schools but Rhee was a disaster there and Fenty backed her all the way. So, yes, I’m blaming him for continuing to support her efforts which in the end, failed.
You say that she was a “disaster”. Can you explain yourself? What did she do wrong, in your view?
From where I sit, she attempted to improve DC schools, and met with resistance from people who don’t give a shit about the kids.
-jcr
John Merrill, education reporter for the PBS NewsHour documented the entire episode from Rhee’s hiring until the end. We saw every segment over a few years. While I think it was a good idea to do some radical surgery on DC schools and I gave and give Fenty credit for making an attempt, Rhee was not the person to do it and he should have seen this part way through but it seemed to me (and my wife) that he was going to defend his choice until the end, even if it destroyed a community.
Some of the resistance she met was from the entrenched education establishment in DC which needed to go, of course. But, some of it was from parents of kids in the school systems who, while not defending the status quo, didn’t like the way she was making change.
My guess is another person with the same end goals but a different personality might have met more success there. Again, I give Fenty credit for trying but take it away for not changing course fast enough. In the end Rhee got fired, Fenty is gone, and there is little change in that school system.
PBS says it all. A tax supported network with unlimited resources and an agenda. Honest, balanced reporting is not something you will find on PBS.
PBS gets very little tax money (about 12%). Most of its money is through private donations and fundraising.
12% is a lot of money. I understand that most of the rest is through public donations. In particular, large corporations. But 12% is an awful lot of money. And that’s our tax money. I have no problem with that if PBS was not biased 100% of the time to the left. As far left as you can possibly go! That’s not where our tax money should go. It might as well be called ACLU television. It’s never fair and balanced. That’s undeniable.
Yes, PBS is definitely unbalanced, they don’t dare challenge the official paradigms promoted by their corporate paymasters — hedge funds, oil companies, military contractors, etc.
Only a John Birch Society type perspective could think they’re somehow a leftist entity. They’re too subservient to power for that.
You still haven’t cited anything that she did wrong. Care to try again?

Her bio reads like Obama, so can’t argue with your positioning…
http://schoolsofthought.blogs.cnn.com/2013/01/08/whats-michelle-rhees-legacy-in-d-c-schools/
“I am Michelle Rhee. I’m the new chancellor of the D.C. public schools … and no, I have never run a school district before.”
“”We’re not running this school district through the democratic process.”
“How can you possibly have a system where the vast majority of adults are running around thinking ‘I’m doing an excellent job,’ when what we’re producing for kids is 8% success?”
See what I mean…
Two confused leftists do not make a right.
Tabloid stories make no relevance.
Now tabloid targets Mrs.Jobs. She must wear a bullet proof or having thick skins.
I thought you usually move up when it comes to relationships? To go from one of the greatest men who ever lived to that bum?
Eh, I guess no matter where she went next it was bound to be a downgrade from Steve.
not necessarily, I’m available.
Yes, perfect in every way. Exceeeept – you’re still a Yankees fan. 😉
dark days in da’ Bronx indeed.
And I thought this was MacDailyNews, not People Magazine. Ooh boy, let’s all make some idiotic comments about mixed-race relationships. MDN, your audience gets more sophomoric by the day.
“bonded over school reforms” sounds very romantic…
This is none of our business.
She must love pouring black sauce on her hotdog.
Think you got that backwards.
He must love pouring his white sauce on her lonely croissant.
What what hey… was that the school bell… now run like…
Grow up.

I had a higher regard for her, but I hope she will learn from this mistake sooner than later.
This is disgusting…leave it to another lying politician to separate a fool from her money. Would someone please tell Laurene to wake up and get out of fantasyland?
You guys are in rare form on this one.
So the soon to be ex-Mrs. Fenty might be free to have a drink?
The soon to be ex-Mrs. Fenty is quite beautiful and I’m sure she won’t have any problem finding another guy. As a female, I am shocked that Lauren Jobs would even look at a guy like Fenty. Wonder what his agenda is all about. As far as Lauren Powell-Jobs I am utterly shocked and disappointed reading this news. For goodness sake, to go from Steve Jobs and he was not perfect by any means to this ugly gap-toothed guy leaves me wondering is she not aware that the world is her oyster and there are plenty of better looking and probably nicer guys around black or white?
Because it’s all about looks, right?
No, but Steve Jobs was very handsome. I also added Nice. I was married and widowed to a very handsome and Nice guy and 10 years later met a very handsome and very nice guy. This is simply my humble opinion. Lets be honest, good looks attract but there definitely has to be more substance than only looks. I still believe if the rumor is true, she can do a heck of a lot better than this guy.
Just goes to show that even billionaires need to get some, once in awhile.
Besides, should we automatically believe this is a “romance” because a gossip columnist at the Washington Post says so?
Either way, she is a consenting adult with every right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of a penis.
Will he change his name to Adrian Fenty-Kerry?
Who are any of you to judge the personal affairs of Laureen Jobs? Shame on all of you.
who cares !
Where da white women!
Am I the only one that thinks that little girl is adorable?
Yes, I believe so: I thought that was a black Cabbage Patch doll.
I was wondering where the got the toupee.
