  1. DigiTimes excels at surrounding one or two isolated items, usually rumours, with an arrangement of seemingly related items and connecting the dots in the manner of an overly-earnest seeker of patterns: locating sacred faces on the surface of Mars, on a piece of tree bark, or on an enchilada.

  2. One would think that an organization the size of Apple would be able to achieve manufacturing efficiency in-house rather than resorting to practically 100% outsourcing. Moreover, locating assembly plants nearer its consumers should allow significantly greater IP protection and goodwill. Instead of just shuffling papers in Ireland, build iMacs there! Install a new iPhone assembly line in Africa to serve the growing markets there. It’s a big world, and Apple surprisingly avoids most of it.
