“A would-be rapist was arrested in under an hour thanks to a tracing device on the victim’s stolen iPhone,” The Mirror reports.
“The woman in her 20s had woken up to find a man with his arms around her neck after he climbed in through a bedroom window she had left open due to the hot weather,” The Mirror reports. “But he fled with two mobiles as she fought him off and started screaming, alerting a neighbour in Forest Hill, South East London.”
The Mirror reports, “Police triggered her Find My iPhone app and a man aged 30 was arrested in Brixton accused of attempted rape and burglary… Det Chief Insp Pete Thomas, of the Met’s Sapphire South East which deals with sex offences, said: “This was a frightening attack on a woman in her room as she slept… ‘Officers attended the scene and established the victim had installed the ‘Find my iPhone’ app. This was immediately activated and the phone was quickly tracked to the suspect in Brixton.'”

Only problem eith fond my iPhone is that it requiresthat location location services be left on always, which kills the battery.
No it doesn’t. Find My Phone is triggered into action in pretty much the same way a text message gets to your phone. The phone’s GPS is then fired up to report position. Where did you come up with this battery thing?
If location services is disabled, iPhone cannot be found.
The only problem with Find My iPhone is that if the power dies, so does the tracking ability. Going through that right now with my son’s 3GS, which he left at football practice. Had a couple of hits on it, but now it’s been offline for days.
