The Obama administration faces a new petition to:
Not buy products/services from foreign companies that have infringed upon any US company patents anywhere in the world.
The petition reads:
Samsung is trying to sell its mobile equipment to the FBI and the Navy. This equipment has already been found to have infringed upon Apple patents. Companies that steal American intellectual property should be blacklisted from selling their products to the Federal Government for 10 years. While Google is American and writes the software, Samsung has been found in US courts to have infringed upon Apple patents. Any foreign company found to have infringed on a US company’s patents should be disqualified as a supplier to the US government for 10 years from the date of the decision.
100,000 signatures requires a response from the Obama administration.
Read and/or sign the petition here.

A first what?
Signing a whitehouse.gov petition. Am I on the NSA list now?
You a cell phone, everything you say and do will.
You carry a cellphone, everything you say or do, is and will…
Welcome to the club. 😉
Did you just type the letters N S A together?
Now they need to follow up by keeping the headline going as a daily reminder till the deadline.
RIM is a Canadian company.
Hey wait we all use BB’s here in the government.
The difference is that RIM has not been convicted of infringing on patents filed by US companies. (I don’t think.)
Which apparently was not a good decision for RIM. Seems to be working for Samsung.
Potential signers of this petition (I agree with the sentiment) should look at the other 125 open petitions.
This is a forum for every crackpot on the planet.
Nobody of any important is going to read, let alone act on these petitions. They are pathetically written and, by the number of signatures gathered, not on anybody’s issue radar.

Obama Messiah and his lovely wife, Mr. Ed, must get a good laugh every morning with these pointless petitions. The only “petition” that these monsters should receive is an impeachment proceeding and an indictment for treason.
Please move to Florida where you should feel right at home.
spare us your CiaNN race card racism, troll. That dog doesn’t hunt.
Obozo can move to Florida where he will find all his racist black friends.
“I loathed my mother because she was white”
Obama in his book.
You see it’s ok for knee grows to be openly racist in Americanistan.
So you obviously grew up with interracial during a period in amerikkka where it was illegal for those parents to get married in some states. I am glad you know of what you speak.
asshole.
correction – with interracial parents.
lol.
In case the racists in the forum were feeling a little lonely, here’s something to make you feel at home:

you are aptly named.
What on earth does racism have to do with this video or topic?
nothing. it is the ol’ “race card smear” whose deceit has made it an impotent factor to anyone who subscribes to truth and reason.
let’s play Find The Fallacy:
a. Barack Obama is a mulatto.
b. I disagree with the policies of Barack Obama.
c. Therefore, I am a racist.
So, botvinnik, why is it that you claim to love America, but can’t stand Americans? Silly fool…
yeah, that made sense.
For Bot’nik—
Benjamin Franklin: I sought to break a habit of mine of prattling, punning and joking,
which made me acceptable only to trifling company.
Signed it, gladly. Please do so yourself. It makes me madder than hell to see what Samsung is getting away with.
Signatures at this moment: 99,960. It’s going over 100,000 today if only from signatures added by us at MDN. This should be fun…
Oh I am such a dummy! SORRY!
99,960 more REQUIRED until *DING*. It’s too hot here today to think and write. Reading only for me today.
Writing from hell?
No, not Arizona. New York is bad enough. 😉
Good one DC!
Derek, that 99,940 is the number of signatures still needed to hit the 100,000 goal. So far there are only 60 signatures. We need to get the word out! They need 100,000 by August 18, 2013. But I like your optimism!
I figured it out, as per my tail-between-my-legs self-reply. Again. SORRY! 🙁

All companies who have infringed on patents: foreign and domestic should be blacklisted.
No discrimination…!
I disagree, any government should should show a bias in favor of domestic companies. If the US government really wants Android phones they should work with Motorola not Samsung.
So by your logic Apple should not be purchased by the government either, because Apple has been found guilty of infringing on other companies’ patents.

A petition was my first thought this morning when I saw this headline, but then I had to get the kids fed and off to summer camp. I’m glad someone started one (I’m #16), but I would have thought the numbers of signers would be growing about as fast as the national debt. This is such a no brainer to me. It truly does seem as though there’s something to the idea that if you don’t spend money in DC on lobbyists, or hire lobbyists when they can no longer stand the dishonesty of the practice, then you’re going to get trounced by the US Government. Very disappointing.
Samsung: Falling to the inner circle of a hell of their own making.
DONE! Spread the Word on your blogs, links. Oh and finally Stupid Facebook and Social sites can finally be useful! lol

SIGNATURES NEEDED BY AUGUST 18, 2013 TO REACH GOAL OF 100,000 99,871
TOTAL SIGNATURES ON THIS PETITION129
This petition is ridiculous. The world of patent infringement changes daily. Apple has been found guilty of infringing on patents of domestic and foreign companies, so has Samsung, Google, Motorola, Microsoft, etc. etc.
This petition tries to take a very, very complex technology licensing situation and make it a simple black and white issue. That’s simply not possible.
However, I strongly disagree with our government buying Samsung devices for the FBI, etc. We have plenty of home-grown options (Apple, Motorola, Microsoft), plus, Samsung has proven it fails to provide security updates and its products are extremely easy to infect.
I don’t think it is wise for the FBI to be using potentially infected or infectable Samsung products when conducting an investigation. Can you imagine the data these criminals could obtain if they tapped into the NSA’s Galaxy S4s?
Well, that’s okay. At the rate at which the petition is acquiring signatures, assuming that rate remains constant, which seems very unlikely, it will take 70 days or so to garner the 100,000 it needs in order to go before the President. I doubt very much it will reach its goal.
can someone tell the petition creator to shorten the description ? it’s to long to share on a tweet, and many people won’t share it because of that. Try tweeting it , you will see what I mean.
