AirPlay rocks.
The primary reason for installing XBMC on my Raspberry Pi was to be able to AirPlay to my TV.
AirParrot is a lemon. It is buggy and suffers from poor performance. Good enough for a stop-gap until you get to MTN Lion, but painful to use heavily. Prepare for frustration.
My org uses airplay with Apple TV in 40 rooms and counting now. We initially tried AirParrot, but were severely disappointed in it. It facilitated a faster rollout of Mtn Lion thought!
Airplay ROCKS!
Doesn’t matter if you have Mountain Lion or not if your hardware is a couple of years old or older. Can’t use Airplay for video if that’s the case.
Does anyone know why Airplay mirroring won’t work on a 2010 Mac Pro? I’m stuck with audio only…
For some reason it seems you need mid 2011 model or newer. I have a 2009 17″ Macbook Pro and it doesn’t work either. Not sure exactly why. The following kbase tells you what you need.

You can also try streaming practically any video from your mac to the Apple TV through the iPhone, by using the Air Video app / Air Video Server combination.
