The Loop reviews Apple’s new Logic Pro X: The same professional-level features plus new high-end abilities

“The day many professional audio engineers, musicians and music-making fans have been waiting for is here — Apple released Logic Pro X,” Jim Dalrymple writes for The Loop. “I spent some time with the Logic Pro X team and have been using the software myself in my studio, so I’d like to give you a rundown of the important changes.”

“Logic Pro X still has all of the same professional-level features as its predecessor, but also adds some new high-end abilities,” Dalrymple writes. ” In addition, Apple has made the software more approachable to new users with features like Smart Controls (we’ll talk about this later), without taking away any ability for pros to dig down into the plug-ins, preferences or controls.”

Dalrymple writes, “Logic Pro X is the best music software release I’ve seen from Apple in a while. They added a lot of pro features, but at the same time managed to make the app more approachable—that’s a difficult thing to do… Overall, Logic Pro X is a great release and for $199, you can’t go wrong.”

  1. This is fantastic. I had no idea this was coming out today. As much as I love the old Logic, it was sometimes a bit kludgy (wiring the arpeggiator for instance). I’m just diving into it now, but it already seems cleaned up and easier to use. Can’t wait for the drums to download to try out the new drummer feature. Not sure it will replace the drummers I have in Komplete, but the ease of use might put it over the top.

  2. Cool thing about drummer is you can export it as midi and then use komplete drum / superior etc to play. Mix and match to taste. Just opened up a whole new drum world!
