  1. Not surprising since Apple is finally is on every major carrier and most of the minor ones.
I’m a little surprised that Apple hasn’t started more aggressively adding new carriers in other markets. Samsung is on around 500 carriers while Apple in only on around 200. Huge profit/marketshare potential without having to innovate a new product or feature.

    1. Not necessarily. Samsung is selling so-called “smartphones” at feature phone prices into markets that can’t support current smartphone data rates.

Is a pickup truck a weapons platform because its got a 50 cal strapped on back? Not when it runs up against a developed nation’s tank.

For all the carriers that Samsung is on, its handset profits are about 1/2 of Apple’s. Ergo, not all carriers are equal.

  2. Despite FUD and other forms of deceit, word of mouth does eventually get around and people gradually figure out that crap just isn’t ‘good enough’.

Not sorry about that Slamscam. Oh sorry, I mean Samsung. 😯

  3. USA has always been THE market for Apple…

I know it’s hard to believe, but the rest of the world also exists:

You can also continue to think this is because iWhatever are too expensive for other markets… But high end HTC or Samsung phones aren’t cheaper…

People buy them because they like them and that won’t change soon.

    BTW… This is also… Interesting

But hey! Don’t let facts go into your way.

    Happy bashing 🙂

    1. Now hang on its hardly new that the just launched Galaxy outsells the 8 month old iPhone, the same thing happened lat year. Hats as objective as saying the first month or two of a new iPhone is the norm. That said the latest European figures are not great news if they are to be believed (no official figures as yet). To much complacency even if its cheaper Androids that make the biggest diference Samsung feels that cheap loss leaders getting market share will get these customers upgrading later to their flagship phones.

  4. You all fail to grasp what Android was
intended for, i.e so that google can
    control the smartphone market-share,
and not to make profits by selling
    smartphones. Google compels Android
users to use all its products;the search
    engine,maps,youtube etc. This is where
google gets most of its money it’s all a
castle-moat affair where Android is just
    guarding google’s main business
intrests. If google allowed iPhone to
have all the market share what was to
    stop them from pushing customers
away from google products. This has
been very effective seeing as Android
    has almost 70% market share.

  5. There has been alot of comparing btn google and Microsoft but in my opinion google is the smarter of the 2. Microsoft depended on a market that Apple created, Google on the other-hand creates new markets that apple hasn’t ventured. Iam spending a month in Nairobi,Kenya and I am witnessing this first-hand. Google is grooming African and Asian countries to become major revenue earners for them. It’s partnering up with major Afrcan tecom. Companies and making internet much more common here, even public transport commuters have access to high speed wi-fi. Android smartphones have flooded the market with Samsung and Huawei at the forefront. Apple did make a half-hearted bid to penetrate the market but they have generally been non-existant. Laptops and Desktops are still the main internet devices but the mentality is slowly shifting and google has set itself up to reap the fruits of a technologically advanced 3rd-World.
