“Apple media boss Eddy Cue spent the morning on the stand during the Apple/Department of Justice ebooks/antitrust case,” Peter Kafka reports for AllThingsD.
“I’m not sure why Apple lawyer Orin Snyder wanted Cue to spend time discussing his late boss, because I can’t see how it has any bearing on the case,” Kafka reports. “But, then again, my legal training consists of watching some “L.A. Law” back in the ’90s.”

Kafka reports, “So, in any case, for the record: Apple wants you to know that Steve Jobs wasn’t just into the idea of iBooks and an iBookstore, but was intimately involved in its product design and launch in the fall of 2009 and early 2010.”

Not to mention that the relevance to this case and to Apple’s side and defense would even be obvious to a chimpanzee.

I’m not a lawyer either, but if I were to guess, I’d say that since the prosecution has made Steve Jobs’ email, and by extension his thought processes, the linchpin of their case, it opens the door to the defense to explore Jobs’ feelings and thoughts to his colleagues on the matter, perhaps even countering the DAs characterizations.
