“It’s been three days since Apple started decorating Moscone West with WWDC 2013 banners, and today the company has started publicly showing off new signage hinting at the next iteration of iOS, iOS 7,” Federico Viticci reports for MacStories.
“Using a very simple layout compared to last year, Apple is simply saying ‘7’ on the banner that’s being put up at Moscone West right now,” Viticci reports. “Tim Cook himself confirmed at D11 that Jony Ive, now head of the Human Interface Group at Apple, has been working on a new “look and feel” for iOS.”

Apple’s WWDC 2013 banners: ‘Where a whole new world is developing’ – June 5, 2013
Nice.
very Nice!
Sell your AAPL tonight !!!!! The marketfxxkers will express disappointment after WWDC .
That stupid looking 7 is driving me to Samsung.
Just kidding….
It really looks like something Sony would draw…
I just hope it means we can draw!
To me the background looks like a canvas and thus iOS might include stylus support. The thin font of the “7” plus the “WWDC” could represent the precision of an Apple stylus. Plus the tag line of “a whole new world developing” meaning apps that can accept pen input.
I know there may be a lot of other features deemed more important, but one day pen input has to come to iOS.
Or the background could be a ventilated portion of the new Mac Pros.
MacDraw for iPad? Yes, yes, yes.
Hell I’d settle for MacDraw for Mountain Lion. Even Windows ships with a free basic paint tool, whereas the Mac, touted for graphics design, lets people get started with… what?
The background pattern could be a clue. Perhaps it could replace the linen fabric background in the native apps?
Yep. My first thought was, “Pro”.
The background looks to me like the front grill of the Mac Pro – Maybe a new model, finally, and/or maybe some new changes to tie iOS 7 and OS X 10.9 even closer together?
That was my first reaction too, Mac Pro grille
Hate to tell you kids, but that is just a cheap terrycloth pattern. It says to me: ‘iOS 7, the quicker picker upper’, which of course makes no sense. Monday is just 3 days away, more data shall be forthcoming…
Sorry, that’s fugly. Hurts my eyeballs.
System 7
Looks special … I am excited !
looks thin not flat
looks sexy not crappy
very minimal and no animal
so straight to the point this 7 and X
the genius communicates on a level beyond heaven
omg its 7x better
oh yeah,
everything is coming together
Son of a gun. I actually did know the words to this. I always thought I was making stuff up.
keep the ladder in the banner it adds a visual lyricism
screw you trollmister you got toe jam foos ball
The ladders (indicating ascension) divide the negative space.
ascending, yes it does, we mountaineer to heaven the cloud
OSX 10.9 is called X? iOS7 is called 7?
what will happen with the next OS — OS11?
then are we gonna get OS7/11
iOS 7 + Mac OS 10.9?
Finally we get Seven of Nine!
It better look sexxxxy then!
In the second photo, look at the X banner. No feline!
Look, it’s a 7!
Less is more lets hope we can say the same about iOS 7
Just thought of this – Apple could go where others cannot follow with really delicate fonts, since they have the Retina display already in place. Not too many others could follow. Could be a nice way to take advantage and do something stunningly beautiful – we will see!
Too Windows 8 looking!
I’m waiting until Monday… I will keep my mouth shut… get actual data… don’t panic… this is indicative of nothing… keep telling myself that… it can’t be as bad as Microsoft… just can’t be… it will be insanely-great… FUD is getting to me… too much FUD… fighting back FUD with reality distortion field… no wait I mean…
Time for another shot of caffeine, buddy
You are quite correct. It’s good to see you in top form today Hannah.
What’s with the ladder? I thought we were done with skeuomorphism…
The REAL question is do the ladders show up on FlyOver?
The style is what I call “post-modern astringent”. Any more minimal and the banner would be empty.
As in homeopathy, repeated dilution increases potency. When it reaches 12C, you’ll only imagine the X, but it will have become you.
for once apple make changes to the OS that really add to the user interface… I dont want some icon shape change…
http://www.thegadgetcode.com/2013/06/apple-wwdc-7-banner.html
I like the huge wave, it reminds me of the powerful eclipse-themed Apple logo used for the iPhone introduction in 2007…
What’s 7 A?.
Oops, that’s a ladder, never mind.
Not a fan of the thin font, the X on the wave banner looks like a mistake, the thin 7 looks Google-like Nexus (in color scheme). Just not liking it.
