Apple to start production of 5th-gen iPad in July, sources say

“Volume production of the fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad will kick off in July-August 2013, according to sources with Taiwan-based supply chain makers,” Max Wang and Joseph Tsai report for DigiTimes.

“The sources pointed out that the new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the fourth-generation one and will adopt a slim bezel design, similar to that of the iPad mini,” Wang and Joseph Tsai report. “The new iPad’s display is expected to be supplied by LG Display and Sharp.”

  1. 9.7″ How can it be the same size? Don’t all the pundits say that Apple is doomed if they don’t make iPad bigger or smaller?

    If Apple did change the size, the pundits and analysts would all question the wisdom to change it too. They would all say that Apple can’t innovate anymore. Everybody out there seems to know more than Apple and therefore say that Apple is doomed. I think most companies on earth would like to be as doomed as Apple is.

  2. Just saw an advert at tigerdirect.com and I found where all those unsold pads and laptops are going… And it ain’t direct to consumers.
    Their current sale has tons of laptops and tablets for sale. And if they are for sale now, that means they they only shipped and did not “sell” earlier.

    Just a thought.
