Apple today released iOS 6.1.3 Software Update which contains improvements and bug fixes, including:
• Fixes a bug that could allow someone to bypass the passcode and access the Phone app
• Improvements to Maps in Japan

Ok… That was a bit of a disappointment.
What was disappointing about a update that fixes bugs and contains improvements?

Hmm. The linked-to security page doesn’t have any info about 6.1.3 yet. But, the error is in Apple’s iOS 6.1.3 page – it links to a page saying “for more info” and the page you go to doesn’t (yet) have that info.
I’ve found that the update “fixes” the bug where access can be gained through the locked screen. However, now I can’t find how to turn the locked screen off. I’m stuck on portrait mode.

Clicked on the link and greeted by the ‘Apple security updates’ page. Fine.
BUT NOT a direct link to the iOS 6.1.3 software update.
The ‘Security updates” table chart lists the latest update referring to Safari 6.0.3.
Not the iOS 6.1.3 software update.
It is what it is.
So this supports all iPhones as far back as the 3GS, a three year and eight month old iPhone. Meanwhile there are Android based phones sold within the last six months that cannot be updated to the version of Android that came out last fall.
Hmmm….
Maybe Schiller wasn’t just running scared from the Galaxy S4 launch like many pundits said. Maybe he really was telling the truth. Maybe some pundits will actually see the truth. Nah… that’s just be delusional on my part!
Seems i have not gotten the usial message on iPhone 3GS (yeah I know its time for an upgrade) saying there is an update available. Maybe iOS 6.1.3 will no longer support the 3GS (gasp). 😮
