“Google Inc. executive Jeff Huber stepped aside as head of the Internet giant’s mapping and commerce unit on Wednesday, in a two-part management shift that also saw the chief of the Android unit, Andy Rubin, leave his position, said people familiar with the matter,” Amir Efrati reports for Dow Jones Newswires.
“Mr. Huber will move to Google X, the unit run by Google co-founder Sergey Brin that’s working on projects such as self-driving car technology and the Google Glass wearable computing device, these people said,” Efrati reports. “The mapping unit will become part of the Google search team, led by Alan Eustace, and the commerce unit will be tucked into the advertising group, led by Susan Wojcicki, one of these people said.”

Sounds like a good move to separate mapping and making money. In fact, all Google products except for AdSense would benefit if Google separated the whole monitization thing right out of the company.
