Next-gen iPad coming as soon as April, iPhone 5S to launch in August, say sources

“iMore has learned that Apple is planning the release of the iPhone 5S for this summer, currently for August,” Rene Ritchie reports for iMore. “Next generation iPads, presumably the iPad 5 and potentially the iPad mini 2, may also debut as soon as this April.”

“iPhone 5S does indeed have the same basic design as the iPhone 5, with a more advanced processor and an improved camera,” Ritchie reports. “With the iPhone 5S, the aim is to once again raise the bar in terms of iPhone optics, including a much better camera in essentially the same casing. No huge surprises there, given the past history of S-class iPhones.”

Ritchie reports, “We’ve also been told an April-ish launch is getting serious consideration for the next-generation iPads, but we’re really not sure what to make of that yet. iPad 5 casings have already begun to leak — the only big redesign in the line — so that could make sense. Retina for the iPad mini, however, still doesn’t sound imminent.”

  1. Oh my God!
Apple is going to launch a new iPad in April AND a new iPhone in August. Stop the presses!
This insightful article will be followed up with his “water is wet” and “Samsung phones are actually just poorly functioning plastic copies of the iPhone that don’t cost less” stories. Oh wait… that last one actually -would be- insightful.

  2. ppfffft Why should Apple even bother? Doesn’t matter if they put a gigapixel camera, a 12 core terahz CPU, with 512 Gig of flash storage and a time machine/ teleportation device on the inside.

Every tech pundit, ‘journalist’, and analcyst will tell you that unless the outside is redesigned its no different than the iPhone5 Apple is doomed. All Tim Cook’s fault, but shockingly, the stock will rise .0021%

    1. The time machine/teleportation device on the inside would indeed matter. Investors would snap up the product and gleefully travel to the spots where they should have bought or sold Apple shares, changing history and siphoning billions into their bank accounts. Wait—maybe that is what actually happened—a stolen prototype, perhaps?

      1. I guess there are an awful lot of long term Apple investors that would love to go back to September. I’ll bet they would all buy the model with the time travel/teleportation option. But they’ll never admit it. I wouldn’t mind being 18 again.

  3. “planning”, “presumably”, “potentially”, “may”, “as soon as”, “April-ish”, “serious consideration” …….

This article brims with hard, cold data.
