Apple looking for anodizing expert for next-gen devices

“Apple is recruiting for an Engineer with expertise in anodizing processes to ‘help create the next generation of the world’s finest electronic devices’ according to a new job advertisement posted by the company,” Lily reports for AppleBitch. “The person will apparently be working on new aluminum anodizing processes and additional surface finishing techniques such as blasting, polishing and PVD, or Physical Vapor Deposition.”

  1. … and now it’s time for the people who hate when Apple adds color to it’s product lines to complain.

    “That’s not innovation!”

“You’re going to put a case on it anyways. Apple is dead to me!”

    There. Did it for you.

    1. I for one do appreciate Jony Ive’s team leading the styling innovations, which are indeed a key component of Apple’s success. On would have to be daft to claim that complex metal forming and finishing isn’t a technical leap forward.

What critics like myself find disappointing isn’t the color selection so much as the slow plodding pace at which Apple now releases new products, and the underwhelming improvements that come with the latest iOS gadgets. Look at the MacRumors Buyer’s Guide and tell me that Apple hasn’t dramatically slowed its pace of innovation.

  2. What happened to all the liquid metal rumours? Oh ya, replaced by the fading iWatch rumors. Only now more materials science rumors are going to pop up. I can see it. “Apple no longer interested in liquid metal, turns to advances in aluminum.” Apple laughing in secret playing everyone for a fool… That this may be disinformation.

At any rate, the iwatches and liquid metal always make me laugh. We just don’t know in the end what Apple is going to do. Now go have a drink.

  3. Unless or until they create a new product category, it’s just the same old pre-iPhone Ap[ple making nice products for nice people like you. There is no disruptive force at work here. A watch? c’mon. Only an idiot would point at an obsolete technology
