Apple released their newest iOS version, iOS 6.1.2, “on February 19th, 2012 – slightly over a week following its release of iOS 6.1.1, which was targeted explicitly to iPhone 4S users,” Chitika Insights reports. “With this latest update going out to iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches, Chitika Insights examined the initial adoption rate of the OS, to compare it with our earlier study on iOS 6.1.1.”
“To quantify this study, Chitika Insights took a sample of tens of millions of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch mobile ad impressions originating from the Chitika Ad Network. This data set is composed of impressions originating from the U.S and Canada, observed from February 19th through February 24th, 2013. A user agent analysis was conducted to identify the iOS version in use from each iOS device impression,” Chitika Insights reports. “A graph depicting the growth of iOS 6.1.2 since its launch can be seen below (in the context of iOS 6 traffic only), along with a current version distribution for all iOS Web traffic.”
Chitika Insights reports, “As seen in the graphs above, five days following iOS 6.1.2’s debut, 34.9% of iOS Web traffic in our North American network is generated by 6.1.2 users. This makes 6.1.2 the most popular version of iOS domestically, surpassing iOS 6.1.0, and adoption of the OS shows no signs of slowing down. Additionally, looking at the line graph, one can see how the growth in iOS 6.1.2 traffic has been accompanied by a near-corresponding drop in iOS 6.1.0 usage, indicating that many users from that OS in particular are switching to the latest version. As this latest update fixed a battery life issue ― a major phone feature ― it’s understandable that the rate of adoption for iOS 6.1.2 would reach these levels so quickly. For comparison, 48 hours following its release, iOS 6.1.2 adoption nearly equaled what we observed for the much more highly anticipated iOS 6 within the same time period ― a significant achievement considering this update was centered on an OS bug fix.”

As anyone else having a problem with the phone running out of juice very quickly with this update? Before, I was having no problem with the phone lasting on a charge the entire day and having plenty left over. Now, if I don’t leave it on the charger overnight, even if it starts at 100%, it drains the battery entirely. Mine’s a 4S with 64GB.
I have noticed a vast drop off in battery life with my iPhone 4.
Battery life sucks. But then that’s symptomatic of all iPhones, regardless. Pathetic Apple.
BLN: Nurse Ratched called. She found the Lithium pill you spat out under your dresser. She said tomorrow you’re getting THE TUBE. Just take your medication, OK? Then everyone has a better day. 😕
Could be coincidence but my phone ran out of juice on Sunday. I thought I had left the navigation program on.
Today it also drained quickly.
The major fix was for Exchange. Maybe it is checking more frequently and draining battery as a result.
84.4% of NOAM devices are on the latest major version (6.0+). What’s the Android adoption rate, Google?
Ron,
Yes battery issues huge with many. I’ve been beating this drum for about a week. I do not use exchange server, and many others too.
Huge thread on app,e support forums… 155 PAGES of discussions…

On the battery issue with 4s and some 5′s… Check the link above , 155 PAGES of discussion…. There’s a problem for many..
I won’t to apple store twice, did backups, restores, DFU three times setting up as new phones each time…. Did it all and same issues, MAYBE 8 hours of standby with minimal or no use….
Apple last week simply replaced my phone… It’s running 6.1.
Not 6.1.1 or 6.1.2. Works ‘normal….
For you, 6.1.2 may work fine, yet for many on that thread and others, people are having lots of issues…..
This was a very specialized update. It fixed nothing I needed, so I haven’t bothered.
no problem with my 4S phone in regards to battery life.
No problem with my 4S either. Sound quality of a phone call? That’s a different issue. I love my iPhone but it sucks as a phone for voice quality. Thank God it does everything else almost perfectly. I hate to say that I have friends that use phones other than an iPhone but it’s true. Just a couple. And when I try their phone in the same location on the same network their phone sounds twice as good. Same with the 2G and 3GS that I had previously. Go figure.
What is with the use of “most popular”? Just because users are hitting the “Update” button because it’s so effortless doesn’t mean they are doing so because they “like” the latest version. They just know it’s important to apply updates.
How dare you respond intelligently! Just to do you think you are anyway? Logic? You use logic? I mean really, this is one of the dumbest articles I’ve ever read here. Talk about being desperate for good news! And didn’t I see somewhere that there’s another bug?
No kidding. This isn’t news. This is coincidence. Have you even looked at what the update was? This is why you don’t hire idiot women to write stories!
It really speaks to how well Apple have the software updater running.
I’ve noticed a servere drop in battery life on my iPhone 5 as well as poor LTE reception (it’s been in 3G all day), wifi connectivity issues, dropping calls and only 1 bar of antenna meter. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with Verizon tech support and reset my phone and the problems persist. This update is horrible!
iv updated my iphone 4s and the battery running out like water What is Apple Going to do about it
Has anyone had sound problems? The phone will ring if I get a phone call or message but no noise when i play a song or watch a video. There is also no sound when i play games. I reset my phone and even restored my phone and keep having the same problem
This article is useless. Why wouldn’t users update their profiles to the newest version?.. Makes me feel like a imbecile because I took the time to read it.
My iphone keeps farting. It makes my trailer smell terrible.
I missed several important emails from my wife because of 6.1.2 bugs. Now we are divorcing, Apple ruined my marriage!
Brown eye stretch.
I’m not updating. I’ve only read, and heard, nothing but negative responses to it. So, I’ll hold off until pigs fly.
