“Jefferies & Co.’s Peter Misek, the one that has been predicting an Apple HDTV for quite sometime, today provided his roadmap for upcoming Apple product launches,” Jordan Kahn reports for 9to5Mac. “Misek is expecting an ‘iTV’-related event next month in March, the low cost iPhone and iPhone 5S in June or July, and the iPad 5, second generation iPad mini, and iTV in September/October.”
“He also believes that a 4.8-inch iPhone 6 is coming next year in June 2014 after running into manufacturing issues with in-cell display technology in the larger form factor and the move to a 20 nm processor,” Kahn reports. “Misek said that he thinks next month’s iTV related event could introduce an SDK for Apple’s new TV platform but not the TV set itself…”

Eric Slivka reports for MacRumors, “With the Apple TV software being based on iOS, Steve Jobs noted at the time of the launch of the revamped box in late 2010 that an App Store for Apple TV could launch when the time is right, indicating that the company has indeed been looking at opening up the platform to third-party developers.”

I still believe we will see an apple iTV. Now it looks like sooner than later. Bad news regarding the larger iPhone 6. We could use that today not next year. That one hurts. The Apple iTV will eventually develop into Apple’s largest revenue source but it will take time. The larger iPhone and it’s revenue is needed now.
You should be an analyst. Making baseless opinions founded on nothing but rumour, speaking with an authoritative tone on Apple “needs”, and making wild predictions about the future with your magic crystal ball. No wonder you stick up for anal-ysts.

According to most market studies and surveys (Gartner, NPD), large-screen Android phones of today represent barely 5% of the Android market. Keep in mind, this is not 5% of the total smartphone market; this is 5% of the ANDROID market, which makes it even more negligible overall. Even in their own android world, these phones aren’t really that popular (they are the ones that get discounted most quickly after launch). And I don’t think this is one of those things where we’ll get a major shift once Apple introduces a large-screen device that “does it right”. Everyone knows by now what iOS does (compared to Android). When within their own world the large screen devices don’t get much love, then it is obvious that people just don’t care for a brick in their pocket / hand. This will be of no surprise to (at least) half of mobile users (who are women and don’t always claim that bigger is better…).

Not to mention that the number has been widely reported everywhere, it is as common knowledge as Apple’s cash assets (and I haven’t yet heard anyone ask for sources when someone claims that Apple has over $137B in cash assets).
Look, I understand that from a point of view of someone who would very much like a large screen iPhone, the offerings on the other side may seem popular and all, but us tech geeks are a tiny fraction of general population, and it is mostly us (and even not all of us) who would love those massive screens.
I think that shows that when consumers actually pick up a large screen phone and then realize they have to put it in their pocket or purse, or look like they’re from the 1980s holding it up to their head to talk, they don’t want the large screen as much.
Until Apple announces something I would not expect anything. Guessing what Apple does will disappoint you every time.
And SDK sounds like a great idea regardless of an “imminent Apple television. They could use one now for the current Apple TV.

There is an inexpensive iPhone…it’s called the iPhone 4 or 4S…why muddy up the line and go into expensive production on a new low cost phone when you can just go and buy an iPhone 4 today? Apple is not that stupid. But they are stupid enough to make a sleek, slim nano on the wrist, and I will run to buy several.
Let’s see . . . Apple is making an iPhone with a BIGGER screen, but is going to sell it at a much LOWER price. Suuuure, that makes a lot of sense.
