Alien Skin’s Alt Photo app for iOS devices now free for limited time at Apple’s iTunes App Store

“There have been some great App Store photo app sales and freebies lately, but this one is one of the cooler ones,” Marty Yawnick reports for iPhoneography.

Yawnick reports, “Alt Photo adds the look of several classic, retro and vintage film styles to your images — from Kodachrome style to Tin type style. Shoot photos in-app or import from your photo library. All of the app’s filters included in this version. No in-app purchases!”

    1. For the same reason that people paint pictures when it’s so much easier to take a photograph. You may not appreciate the value of artistic expression, but this doesn’t mean that it has no value. On the contrary! The world would be a much less interesting place if more people felt the way you do.

  1. Not really all that great, especially on an iPad. Only works in iPhone mode, and even at 2x blown-up on an iPad, it only works in portrait (vertical) orientation… Snapseed is a much better app for the iPad, or at least the original version was before it was bought out.

    1. For free it’s a better app that the minimal editing controls in the built-in Photos app and unlike Instagram the pix are saved straight to my phone rather than alien servers.

  2. I used to use Alien Skin on the Mac years ago, so I might get this to play with. It’s free, so what’s to lose?
    Anyone looking for a serious photo app should check out 645Pro. Very, very good, but possibly a bit too technical for some…
