Cops taser woman for resisting arrest after trying to buy too many iPhones

“A local family says a language barrier may have resulted in police using a Taser on a woman after she tried to buy too many iPhones at a local mall. Police, however, say the incident isn’t that clear cut,” WCVB reports. “Xiaojie Li, of Newton, said she is embarrassed by Monday’s Pheasant Lane Mall in New Hampshire incident.”

“Xiaojie Li, of Newton, said she is embarrassed by Monday’s Pheasant Lane Mall in New Hampshire incident,” WCVB reports. “‘So my mom says she don’t know why they called the police, because she doesn’t understand what they are talking about,’ her 12-year-old daughter Jiao Jay said. Jay said her mother bought two iPhones last Friday, and was told that was the limit. When she took video of others she claimed were buying more, the store manager asked her to leave.”

“The confrontation involving the Taser happened when Li went to the store on Monday to pick up two iPhones she ordered online,” WCVB reports. “‘The management of the store asked us to have her removed. The officer approached her, told her she wasn’t welcome in the store, and she refused to leave,’ Nashua Police Capt. Bruce Hansen said. Police say the store had issued a stay-away order against Li.”

WCVB reports, “A video posted on YouTube shows Li and police officers on the floor outside the Apple store at the Nashua mall. The crackle of the Taser and Li’s screams can be heard on the video. “Hansen said the woman had been resisting arrest for about 15 minutes before a second officer arrived at the scene. The 44-year-old mother of two was charged with trespassing and resisting arrest… ‘She wasn’t mistreated in any way. If she left the store when she was told to leave the store, it would’ve been done at that. She was told she was under arrest after repeatedly being told to leave the store. She didn’t submit to the arrest. The officer used the Taser on her to get her to submit to the arrest,’ Hansen said.”

MacDailyNews Take: At the Microsoft Store, they use the Taser to get you to buy their phones.

  1. it sounds like some New Hampshire rent-a-cop is going to get sued back to the fucking stone age for their racial bias against an asian woman who was trying to pick up two iPhones she purchased online. Any of you taking the manager’s side in this are fucking troll pussy lemmings created out of some nightmare Bokansovsky process – what happened to my America?

  2. So, let me get this right. A woman walks into a store wanting to buy too much product from you and you tazer her? WTF? Between the new iTunes software, save “a version” in keynote, and this, I’m wondering where apple went….

    1. Exactly. Sell the lady as many phones as she wants. I mean, that IS the idea isn’t it? To SELL product? And it’s been reported Apple has its iPhone 5 manufacturing up to speed anyway and is keeping up with demand..

  3. In days of yore, the police were trained how to physically restrain people without the use of any weapons at all. Unless they were a TRUE threat, there was often no reason to do otherwise. With multiple police on the scene, there should have been no reason to use a taser. And in far too many cases, there is no need for police to shoot someone either. There are exceptions for real life threatening situations, but there are less of those than the police would like to make it seem.

  4. This is a story of stupid human tricks everyone involved behaved badly in my opinion. Tapering? Really? Flying off the handle because you can’t buy more than 2 iPhones? Really? Get out of my store because you are trying to buy more of my products than I believe you should? REALLY? I’m old now, I don’t recognize the values of the country I grew up in I’d fire the store manager, the cops and bar the lady from entering the mall for 3 years! But I guess that won’t happen.

  5. This is turning into a pattern.

An Atlanta Apple store refuses to sell an iPad to an American woman because she speaks Farsi — one of a number of such incidents — http://www.theregister.co.uk/2012/06/21/apple_store_iran_ban/— and now a woman, obviously a terrorist because she wasn’t wearing a U.S. flag on her lapel, calls the electro thugs on a woman who had the nerve to attempt to buy more than two iPhones while unable to speak Cracker.

    1. I am not fussy over Farsi speakers, but I am fussy about fussy Farsi speakers who create a fuss because Apple store staff cannot be fussed about speaking in Farsi. What a Farce!

  6. At the end of the day, cops are lame for needing to use excessive force to control an asian 44 y/o woman. Unless she was big and/or strong.

If truly Apple store employees refused to sell her more than 2 iPhones, considering she pre-ordered those 2 and went to the store to pick them up and perhaps buy more as gifts, then those Apple store employees should get fired. If SJ found out about this, he would have sent her iPads to apologize.
