“Google on Monday introduced a new Nexus 4 smartphone to take on Apple’s iPhone 5, a 10-inch iPad competitor named the Nexus 10, and launched a new version of its Nexus 7 tablet with cellular data connectivity,” AppleInsider reports. “The trio of new products all run Android 4.2, what the company called a ‘new flavor’ of its mobile operating system code-named Jelly Bean.”
“Co-developed with LG, the Nexus 4 has a quad-core processor and a 4.7-inch display that packs in 320 pixels per inch. The device also allows wireless inductive charging without the need to plug in wires,” AppleInsider reports. “The Nexus 4 is $299 for the 8-gigabyte model, and $349 for the 16-gigabyte variety… A 16-gigabyte version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199 with a two-year service contract.”
AppleInsider reports, “With a screen size closer to Apple’s full-size 9.7-inch iPad, the Nexus 10 has a screen resolution of 2,560 by 1,600 pixels, or 300 pixels per inch. Google partnered with Samsung in the design of its new 10-inch tablet. The Nexus 7 will cost $399 for the 16-gigabyte model and $499 for 32 gigabytes.”
“Google has done away with the entry-level 8-gigabyte Nexus 7, which was previously available for $199. For that price, users now get 16 gigabytes of storage, while a new 32-gigabyte model is also available for $249. A new high-end Nexus 7 is also available, offering 32 gigabytes of storage and HSPA+ mobile connectivity for $299. The device will operate on more than 200 GSM providers worldwide, including AT&T in the U.S.,” AppleInsider reports. “Unlike Apple’s iPad and iPad mini, the new Nexus 7 with cellular data connectivity is not compatible with high-speed 4G LTE networks.”

MacDailyNews Take: Yawn.
Gee, I feel ripped off. Wasn’t google supposed to do a $99 tablet? Send their stock down for not meeting the rumor expectation!
Cheap, but no 4G??? On their newest flagship phone??? And 16GB is max. AND, you can get this on contract for $200. I fail to see how this is going to be that compelling to the non-Android fan.
You can add memory with an SSD..so the 16gb is just a start.
You mean an SD?
It doesn’t have a SD card slot.
You sure? It would be one of the few, if not only Android phones without SD expansion. If that is true this thing is DOA in the android community.
The Nexus devices have not had SD slots for at least the last 3 phones…and none of the tablets have ever had SD expansion.
Pop goes the weasel !
No LTE, no sale. (Just wanted to write something like that sometime.). 🙂
Fandroids have been writing that LTE bullshit for months.
Now they want the latest with no LTE? I don’t think so.
Is now the time for Apple to sue Google directly?
Yes! It’s amazingly coincidental that they bring out an entire line of products every point of which more or less matches up with a brand new Apple product announced only days ago. You don’t suppose that Samsung tipped them off to what Apple was designing and manufacturing long enough ago that Google can now match product for product, do you? No, that would just be fanboy whining and tinfoil hat territory, wouldn’t it?
Inductive charging may be wasteful, but the kids in my house keep draining the iPad and leaving it sitting around. It’d be great to have a charging pad they could just lay the iPad on and have it be charged later when I want it.
Inductive chargers have to be plugged in so it’s just an extra step for nothing. It doesn’t solve a problem.
When I first heard of “wireless” charging, I thought we were talking about some of that good ol’ Tesla magic from days gone by.
Now, I realize it just means “you know how you used to have to charge using a particular device in a specified location? This is JUST like that!”
That’d be like having wireless networking you can use only when you sit your device on the WiFi Pad.
And the same kids that won’t go find the plug to plug it in are going to go find the charging pad?
All signs point to no as long as someone else (you) are making sure its there when THEY want to use it 🙂
Apple suppliers Samedung and now LG biting the hand that feeds them. Google continues to screw their partners. Sites comparing on specs rather than user experience. While Apple is still trying to get the thermonuclear detonation on Android, little VRNG may have gone thermonuclear on GOOG paid search. We’ll know that result in a couple of weeks.
Bigger question to me, why pray did Google waste $12bn on Motorola Mobility if LG are gonna make their phones? THAT makes no sense whatsoever.
Apple better takes Google serious. I am missing that thermonuclear bomb Steve promised.
Zzzzzzzzzzz! …. zzzz …. Zzzzzzzzzz …..
google pad is as good as sanitary pad. It wouldn’t outlast its value
i am happy with my apple devices, let the cheap loosers buy google crap. Gupta will be excited by this news, and i am happy for him 🙂
A quad core phone? How many minutes of batery life does that get?
