“New photos claiming to show a display panel for Apple’s so-called “iPad mini,” with an aspect ratio identical to the screen on Apple’s traditional iPad,” Katie Marsal reports for AppleInsider.
“Pictures of the component were published on Wednesday by ETrade Supply (via Nowhereelse.fr). The display panel measures nearly 8 inches across diagonally, and is 162 millimeters long, 124 millimeters wide,” Marsal reports. “While the resolution of the screen cannot be determined from the component, earlier rumors had suggested the display will be 1,024 by 768 pixels. That’s the same resolution as the iPad 2, which would allow applications designed for the iPad to run natively on the iPad mini without modification.”
Marsal reports, “The panel pictured on Wednesday has a 4-to-3 aspect ratio, matching that of the 9.7-inch iPad.”

This is the right ratio.
Stop writing bullshit and wait for the facts
Duhh!
We’ve known that for months, even though the iPad mini may not exist.
I guess this would make sense and completely avoid any further fragmentation resulting from additional unique display resolutions.
The original iPad’s pixel density is 132ppi, while the non-retina iPhone’s is 163ppi. If you take the iPad’s 1024×768 screen and scale it down from 9.7 to 7.86 diagonal, you get 163 pip – same as original iPhone.
This seems the most plausible of anything I’ve seen so far. If you don’t have to file your fingertips to use the iPhone, neither will have to file your fingertips to use supposed iPad mini.
SEE no iPad Mini, SPEAK no iPad Mini, HEAR no iPad Mini, until October 23rd! Hot damn, Christmas comes early again!
Awesome. 16:9 sucks on tablets. I don’t even like it on phones; Apple should’ve made the iPhone both longer and wider to maintain its original 3:2 ratio.
How many failed 16:9 Android tablets out there must litter the landfills of the world before 4:3 is accepted as the golden ratio.
The UI elements for the iPad differ significantly from the iPhone for some apps. Take mail and calendar for example as two instances. Due to the larger iPad screen, the apps spread themselves out in landscape mode. You want to maintain the same UI elements scaled down for the iPad mini, not adopt the iPhone UI elements.
Therefore maintaining a 4:3 aspect ratio would allow developers to adjust their apps to iPad 2 resolution which still looks pretty good in my opinion.
I hope this story is correct. A 7.85″ screen at a 4:3 aspect ratio would provide the new iPad with 40% more screen area than its rivals with ostensibly similar screen sizes, i.e. 7″ at 16:9 aspect ratio. The difference in screen area will be obvious.
It’s actually good to see all these different rumors so close to release. It means Apple still has the ability to keep things secret, unlike the iPhone 5.

Litecoin is a peer-to-peer Internet currency ltc gabling that enables
instant payments to anhone in the world. It is based on the Bitcoin protocol bbut differs
from Bitcoin in thast it can be efficiently mined with consumer-grade hardware.
Litecoin provides faster transaction confirmations (2.5 minutes
on average) and usws a memory-hard, scrypt-based mining proof-of-work algorithm
to target the regular computers and GPUs most people already have.
The Litecoin network is scheduled to produce 84 million currency units.
