Apple returns to California Theater in downtown San Jose for October 23rd special media event

“Apple is returning to downtown San Jose’s California Theatre for its next product announcement on Oct. 23, the first time in seven years that the Cupertino company has used the historic venue to introduce a new consumer device,” The Mercury News reports.

“Apple cofounder Steve Jobs debuted new devices at the venue in 2004 and 2005, which featured serious star power [U2 frontman Bono and guitarist The Edge, in 2004] from the world of music and a focus on entertainment offerings,” The Mercury News reports. “The company also announced partnership with Disney to sell downloadable TV series and movie trailers for use on the Mac and new iPod models” in 2005.

  2. With seating for 1100 Apple is saying that this is a significantly important event. They could have had a smaller event on the Apple campus! It is likely that the introduction of the mini is the first step in multiple ipad style devices that could soon be released in laptop, desktop and TV sizes.
