Analyst: T-Mobile could offer Apple iPhone in early 2013

“T-Mobile subscribers may finally get their shot at the iPhone, according to one analyst,” Lance Whitney reports for CNET.

“The carrier could ‘announce official iPhone distribution in early 2013,’ according to Morgan Stanley analyst Nick Delfas,” Whitney reports. “The analyst provided no further details but said that such a deal would add another one to two million buyers of the iPhone 5 in the first quarter.”

Whitney reports, “T-Mobile is the only one of the four major U.S. carriers without custody of the iPhone. In May, the company announced that it would spend $4 billion to ramp up its 4G LTE network, giving it the ability to carry the iPhone 5 in more markets… Buoyed by the launch of the iPhone 5, Apple may have sold 25 million iPhones in the third quarter, Morgan Stanley analyst Katy Huberty said in an investors note yesterday. But she admitted this estimate is a conservative one, so the actual numbers may prove higher.”

  1. I only hope that T-mobile never gets the iphone… then I wont be able to sell my previous version for the cost of the upgrade price after I get the new iphone…

🙁 Then again… thanks to AT&T deciding to piss off their customers.. they stretched the early upgrade time to 20 months instead of 12. They are already making people sign back up for a 2 year contract with each upgrade… why can’t they just keep it 12 months so we can all get the upgraded phone each year…. but they pretty much lose money on the device..so I see their point.

  2. I’m feed up with AT&T! I was a happy T-Mobile customer until the release of the 1st iPhone. I paid the contract penalty to switch & if I wasn’t under contract with AT&T now & T-mobile had the correct setup for my iPhone 4S I’d do it. I will probably switch as soon as possible when it’s confirmed.

  3. Apple doesn’t give a crap about T-Mumble. They’ve been nothing but a superior pain in the rear from the day they sprung alive… Did you see the picture of that German chump yesterday?? Wonder why Apple thinks they suck??

  4. Katy Huberty?!
Hah! She was the one who vehemently told investors to dump Apple stock because the $116 price was way over inflated.

MDN, have you no sense of schadenfreude?

  5. They “could” offer the iPhone, but they won’t. T-Mobile would have to make a similar commitment to Apple that Sprint had to and that they won’t do. They would never find the acquisition that Deutsche Telekom so desperately want’s to find for T-Mobile USA
