“The new iPod touch [Editors’ Choice] is the most elegant device I’ve ever handled—and yes, that includes the iPhone 5. It’s shockingly thin, feather-light, and clad in an absolutely gorgeous wraparound aluminum body. You hardly notice it in your pocket,” Sascha Segan reports for PC Magazine.
“Longer, slimmer, lighter, and better-looking than the 2011 iPod touch, the new touch is available in blue, pink, red, yellow, gray, or black aluminum,” Segan reports. “At an amazing .24 inches thick and 3.10 ounces, it’s almost two-dimensional and weightless. It’s longer than previous touches at 4.86 inches high to accommodate a super-sharp 4-inch, 1,136-by-640 screen, but the same width as previous models at 2.31 inches wide. The new display is just like the one on the iPhone 5, and noticeably brighter than the previous iPod touch‘s screen.”

Segan reports, “It’s cheerful, colorful and versatile, and though it technically has competition, Apple’s iPod touch still stands alone. While we still classify it as an MP3 player, the fully redesigned iPod touch is more like a smartphone without the phone, bringing more than 700,000 iOS apps along with iTunes, iBooks, and the rest of the Apple ecosystem to folks who don’t want to pay full iPhone freight. This year’s touch is a significant upgrade: It’s faster, with a much better screen, a new camera, better headphones, and a new body design to die for.”

Apple unveils all-new iPod touch and iPod nano – September 12, 2012
I was going to sell my 4S and get a 5, but I am now considering keeping my 4S and getting one of these…
But then you have two things to carry around…
In California, it’s illegal to use a phone while driving – even for non-phone functions. I used to use an audio recording app to capture ideas, navigation app (Maps), and of course, the audio player.
When my contract is up, I’m dropping my iPhone 4 contract. I was going to keep it as a Wifi touch device, but maybe I’ll get one of these, instead. I’d like a retina display and the taller form factor.
No, I’d leave my iPod touch at home.
BTW my apple store has them in display and available but havent seen that being reported or didI miss the news?
Ipad mini?
I’m ready for the mini! Bring it on.
If Apple is only making 10 million as rumored in this initial batch they are vastly underestimating demand. (But I know they will make them as fast as they can.)
There is no mini. It is an Apple TV remote.
Same old iphone 5 with apple’s crap maps. 😉
Gupta finally figured out how to turn his computer back on to repeat the only sentence that he knows – like an annoying even more retarded version of Forrest Gump. 😉
Life is like a box of Gupta.
You never know when you’re going to get a peanut.
Or a fucknut.
Why does anyone expect more from our resident ignoramus?
Yeah but funny thing is most people prefer Apple Maps to google maps after using for a week. Nice try Troll
Oh really, that’s why apple’s CEO asked iphone users to use google maps after apple’s crap maps failed. 😉
Go back to CNN you Globalist traitor Sanjay!!
My son already has the iPod touch on his CLINPO.
“a new body design to die for”
Too bad Apple didn’t choose to offer the same visual distinction with the iPhone 5. Doesn’t matter to many, i know, but clearly this reviewer like myself prefers the ergonomic feel of the new iPod Touch. Hope Apple can keep them in stock.
