Supplemental update
Is Apple now trying to copy Microsoft on patch naming conventions? lol
When they start issuing Service Packs, I’m writing Cook a nasty letter. It will be doused in Ballmers sweat so that he will realize what a stinker it is to copy anything Microsoft.
Looking for me?
Just for the crotch sweat to soak the letter…
Are you new to Apple or something? As a user since 1985, we’ve always had the incremental system number, dot something, dot whatever, updates what is the big deal with complaining about this one like it’s never been done before? Just the thing to do to find another Tim complaint?
Getting quite pathetic.
Simple! Your Mac will know if it needs it!
OSX Windows? WTF! The last 18 months or so have been update after update for the OS (Lion and ML) and most Apple apps.
Did Apple hire MSFT Software Engineers?
You have obviously never used a Mac. Supplemental Updates have been around for a very long time.
Stick to trolling the iOS device threads. Or better yet, just GTFO.
There is no reason to resort to insults or being condescending. You can politely disagree and better yet take the opportunity to share your knowledge on the subject.
Not with Gary. He has earned his place next to “Edward” and “pat”.
Then, comments need to be moderated
I am just glad they fixed the parental control issue.
Well, this update has crashed my startup disk. Not even showing up in the Disk Utility. The recovery partition does show up but my machine will not boot. Mountain Lion.
Mine too. Looks like a restore after I get home tonight.
Wow, not good. I updated my iMac with no issues. Haven’t done any of the other Macs yet though.
Mine crashed too; did a restore. Tried updating after the restore. Now the update is stuck and I fear my startup disk is in for another restore…
There are also updates for Epson printers. I counted more than 400 models and my Artisan wasn’t even listed. Does ANYONE know why any company would have so many models?
Lack of focus
Battery life fix? 10.8.2 didn’t fix it for me (MBP mid 2009) and a lot of others.
Second update and fixes none of the problems dealing with overheating and setting off the fans like crazy as well as the numerous episodes of having to watch the spinning ball of hell. To top it all, they made it extremely difficult to downgrade so you are pretty much stuck until they decide to acknowledge the numerous complaints. very disappointed with Apple. this cat was not ready to be released into the wild.
This cat was not released, it escaped.
Get used to it. This is how modern software is built: small increments instead of massive updates that wreck your machine and are hard to unravel.
Surprised it took Apple so long to catch on.
Anyone else having to reboot way too frequently? My iMac is losing contact with the Internet (the DSL password thing comes up) and it’s constantly losing track of attached ithings. Still happening after this update, unfortunately. It might be because my extended AppleCare just expired.
Indeed. The Windows 3 finger salute a la Apple… RESTART! Restart my mid 2012 MPB 15 RD and mid 2011 MBA at least a few times a week just to get things looking right again after a few days use.
Geez, some you guys act like Apple has never done anything like this before. Get a grip.
And what even better => they also released a Lexmark printer update 2.9 which fixed wireless scanning again after last week’s 2.8 update that came with 10.7.5 botched it once more (2.4-2.6 were botched as well as far as I am concerned).
Thanks Apple, that was quick, you saved me a bit of bitching on the support forums. =-)
