“The iPhone 5 went on sale in 22 more countries on Friday, making it now available in a total of 31 nations around the world, in Apple’s most aggressive launch schedule ever,” AppleInsider reports.
“The list of countries where the iPhone 5 launched on Friday is: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland,” AppleInsider reports. “They join the 9 countries where the iPhone 5 debuted a week ago: the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore.”

Dropped by an Apple store in Dallas yesterday. No iPhone 5s for walkin people but if you call ahead, they put you on a list. When one is available (they get shipments each day) they they call you and you get to come in and pick it up. So, no lines, but you have to pre-order.
Just a thought. I wonder if there are lines like this for the latest Samdung product??? Or are they buy one get two free yet??

Your point is moot as Androids come in 60+ varieties hence lines will never form for one particular device. That is Apple’s secret sauce and it has worked out nicely for them over the last 5 years for sure.
Nonsense. People don’t form lines for Android, they buy a specific device as Android comes in dozens of flavors with every manufacturer putting their skin on top.

Lines not long enough for Wall Street’s satisfaction. Apple down $8 due to “disappointment.” iPhone sales revised to 49 million units this quarter down from 50 million. This would never have happened if Steve Jobs was alive.

These early days of an iPhone launch are perfect for FUD and manipulation. Only a smidgen of real sales data that can be twisted to suit any objective.
Happens every time. The iPhone 4S was exactly the same. First it was slammed as not being different enough, then there was supply issues when they sold out too quickly. After all that settled down it was realized that the 4S was a huge success.
Those who own stock shouldn’t listen to the hype unless they are planning to cash out anyway or take a gamble.

Population of countries in today’s roll out about 260 million about 260 MM. Last week’s 710 MM. New areas generally less affluent and more economically troubled. I guess 700 K sales. Question is whether pre order and in sore sales will have done 4 MM over the last weeks roll out. Suspect low end of Munster’s 8-10MM range for this Q. Wild card for next Q is China roll out and production ramp.
Android wouldn’t ever get lines because there is nothing to motivate people to line up for them. You get no support, no updates, cheap design, cheap parts, break easy and there just wanna be copies of the iPhone with malware. I wouldn’t want to line up for that.
