Pocket-lint reviews Apple’s iPhone 5: ‘This really is product design at its finest’

“We’ve been living with the newest iPhone ahead of the official global launch to see whether the Apple iPhone 5 really is the must-have phone of the year, or now just one of many options out there,” Stuart Miles reports for Pocket-lint.

“It’s the same iPhone, but it’s completely different. That’s the main takeaway point for the iPhone 5’s design,” Miles reports. “It’s something you can’t really appreciate until you get up close and personal with the new phone, but when you do, wow, you’ll really notice that difference… Apple has completely re-engineered the phone. It is a lot lighter and a lot thinner, all noticeably so, and that makes a massive difference to how it feels… Sat on the desk you can’t help but notice it’s monolithic presence, especially the dark model, the iPhone 5 really means business. This really is product design at its finest.”

Miles reports, “What Apple has created with the iPhone 5 is an extremely polished smartphone that oozes appeal. It’s incredibly well built, easy to use, features a beautiful screen, and comes packed with enough speed and power to service all your requirements. The hardware is just stunning. It really is impressive how much is crammed into such a tiny box.”

    1. Apples iPhone 5 advert: ACTION…. The black model turning slowly in tune with the theme from 2001 a Space Oddity. The gorillas down below use clunky gorilla sized phones jumping up and down with frustration. Just as the music peaks the iPhone 5 completes its turn reflecting a blinding white light from the face of the white model into the eyes of the gorilla’s. The gorilla’s cower in front trying to shade their eyes from the light. CUT!

      1. I wonder how easy it would be to borrow some shots from the film and intercut with a studio setup of the phone? I like the idea, very cheeky. I think the light should come from the apple logo on a black screen. Please some budding filmmaker read this.

  1. One thing about the larger Samsung phones slapped to your face is how it screams out “I am a geek with zero class living in a basement at Mom & Pops with no job and zero prospects – video game anyone?” and relationships need not apply. Distinctly low class.

As compared to the iPhone which delivers a much more sleek, polished and elegant impression association with its owner. Distinctly high class.
