Apple today introduced the new lineup of the world’s most popular music players including the incredible all-new iPod touch and reinvented iPod nano.

I have a perfectly functional first generation iPod Touch, but this is the first model that makes me want to upgrade.
I have a SECOND generation iPod Touch purchased about four years ago. Were I not inclined to the iPad, I’d jump at this new model. (Mine has a crack in the screen but is otherwise fully functional.)
I too have a first gen iPod Touch, but I can’t call it fully functional since it only runs iOS 3.0.3 and many apps I once used now require iOS 4 or above. With the 5MP camera (& Bluetooth) this is the model I’ve been waiting for for 2 years.
Reminds me of the Shuffle 3G.
I sure hope the Mac Mini can move the stock. Because clearly today’s event did not. Good stuff just not that impressive. But it’s getting harder and harder for Apple to come up with anything that wow’s the crowd. They have made such good stuff to this point that it’s difficult to do more than a incremental improvement. And that will be the real challenge for Apple going forward. If the ITV does come it will be next year. That could help the overall ecosystem. But it’s a cruel world out there and Apple will need to keep its nose to the grindstone.

The new iPod touch looks great, but when will they ever offer a 128 GB version? Most of the time I’m not in wifi range with my iPod touch, I would like to take all or at least most of my music with me.
I’m disappointed there isn’t a 128gb iPhone either.
Trying to read the tea leaves in the iPod touch pricing to figure out what the iPad mini will sell for. The Kindle Fire will continue to undercut the (even the new, smaller) iPad’s price.

Some people like the option of traveling with a lot of music or data, which is why I still keep a 160GB Classic around. Logistically, though, 32GB is more than enough for me most of the time.

What’s up with pricing the iPod touch exactly the same as the iPhone? You would think that it would be at least $50 cheaper.
Well for once they didn’t treat it like the ugly step child of the iPhone. They gave it the same 4 inch screen Retina display with IPS, upgraded camera with sapphire lens cover, dual core A5 chip, slimmed it down. They really went above and beyond what I expected, and this is the price we pay.
The iPhone is much, much more expensive than the iPod Touch without the subscription subsidy.
The Touch is lovely, but is pointless for me, as it’s capacity is the same as the iPhone I’ll be upgrading to.
A 128Gb version would have got me thinking, but my 160Gb Classic has already got 112Gb in it, and I don’t ever expect to stop buying music.
A 256Gb pod is my dream player…

With this announcement, I am about to get my new, pocket-camera/video camera, as well as carrying all my tunes. Airplay is just the icing. Cool!

I don’t think it’s the end of the iWatch dream. They’re waiting for battery performance to improve so they can produce something a little more elegant and less bulky. This Nano would be sick with a camera though, not to even mention a phone. I don’t like the white bezels, they seem a little too ‘hp’ for my taste, and the colors are a bit scary to say the least. I’d have to get the black one for sure. Really happy to see the Classic and Shuffle live on to fight the good fight.

What, no sub-cutaneous iPod? (shake your arm once for playback, twice to FF, stamp your feet to stop, flail to increase volume, lean left or right to navigate (accelerometer) or forward to select. This would have really set Apple customers apart!

Think this Nano is a step back. The watch direction with Bluetooth 4 “talking” to a iPhone or iPod touch or iPad seemed like a possibility. The Nano and Touch seem to be in basically the same market. Don’t understand.
Apple continues to be totally inconsistent in physical design and materials on its different mobile products, even those that are released on the same day. Why?
Hey Apple, in january 2013 please kill that White Zombie, oops iPod Classic. That old interface, small screen and the click wheel is waaaaay too obsolete. We have wi-fi, iTunes Match, or 2 iPods touch… for movies the new nano is way better and cooler. please. make no sense at all. shame.
regarding the Nano… Where’s the clip? They bill it as a “perfect fitness companion”. Well, the clip helped fulfill hat claim. Most athletic clothes don’t have pockets or even if they do, the clip on the previous nano made it super easy to run and control nano at same time. UGH!!! And, do we really need the huge screen for the NANO???? This is a huge step back. I liked the watch idea that was floating around. The entire point of the nano is to be NANO! It should be disappearing in size, not growing. I hope the accessory makers are hard at work making a clip for this. some times it’s hard to keep loving apple….
