The new 4-inch Retina display on iPhone 5 delivers even more pixels than iPhone 4S, making the already incredible Retina display even better. By making the screen taller, not wider, iPhone 5 is just as easy to use with one hand so you can tap, type and scroll the same way you always have, while enjoying even more of your content including amazing apps optimized for the larger Retina display, widescreen HD video, a full five days of your Calendar and more of every web page.

iPhone 5 supports ultrafast wireless standards including LTE and DC-HSDPA, so you can browse, download and stream content even faster. To support the latest LTE technology, Apple has pioneered a unique single-radio LTE solution that provides blazing fast speeds while fitting perfectly into the new remarkably thin design. iPhone 5 features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for a wireless experience up to 150 Mbps.***

The all-new A6 chip was designed by Apple to maximize performance and power efficiency to support all the incredible new features in iPhone 5, including the stunning new 4-inch Retina display—all while delivering even better battery life. With up to twice the CPU and graphics performance, almost everything you do on iPhone 5 is blazing fast for launching apps, loading web pages and downloading email attachments.

The 8 megapixel iSight® camera is the most popular camera in the world and with iPhone 5, it’s even better. The new camera is completely redesigned with incredible optical performance, yet amazingly it’s 25 percent smaller than the camera in iPhone 4S. The new iSight camera in iPhone 5 features a sapphire crystal lens cover that is thinner and more durable than standard glass with the ability to provide crystal clear images. The new panorama feature lets you capture jaw-dropping panorama images of up to 28 megapixels by simply moving the camera across a scene in one smooth motion. New video features include improved stabilization, video face detection for up to 10 faces and the ability to take still photos as you record. A new FaceTime® HD front facing camera makes FaceTime calls incredibly clear and can also be used for self portraits and recording 720p HD video. iPhone 5 also allows you to share photos with friends and family using iCloud’s Shared Photo Streams.

iPhone 5 features the new Lightning™ connector that is smaller, smarter and more durable than the previous connector. The all-digital Lightning connector features an adaptive interface that uses only the signals that each accessory requires, and it’s reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. The Lightning-to-30-pin Adapter is also available to connect iPhone 5 to legacy 30-pin accessories.****

iPhone 5 introduces new enhanced audio features including a new beam-forming, directional microphone system for higher quality sound, while background noise fades away with new noise canceling technology. iPhone 5 now includes support for cellular wideband audio for crisper word clarity and more natural sounding speech. 1. Actually, he seems to have noticed.

That it will even be announced at all is a rumor, so it is silly to call someone a “doofus” or “not very well informed” because they do not believe the rumored date of a rumored device.

        1. Be that as it may, the iPad mini has already been completely designed by committee—you know who you are—so don’t complain when it turns out to have a feature useless to you.

Apple™. All things to all people.

      1. No one in tech is ever done. Android is maturing and already rules and Windows Phone is just starting to get their feet wet.

Apple will do what it does and they will do what they do and as of today both Droid and MSFT are ahead of Apple as the iPhone 5 is still short on several fronts or simply catching up.

        1. Moron? Do you even know what word means? Google it little man and you will see a picture of you. Android rules in all markets including the USA and that is a simple verifiable fact.

        2. So market share means it’s the best? So that means all those cheap cars are “better” than BMW’s or Mercs? Yeah right! The only people I see using Android Samedung phones are those who can’t afford the real thing – you know, house painters, waiters, unemployed, etc. The iPhone is rock solid and has the edge in Apps because of the simplicity of it’s ios for developers. Besides, who want’s to be seen with a fake copy of the real thing?

        3. Idiot! Comparing Apple to BMW? Wow! On a separate note, CNN showed the numbers tonight. Can u say 1 billion Android devices to Apples 300 million by the end of 2013? Come on say it. Idiot.

    1. While it’s true that we saw most of this stuff ahead of time, I don’t know that it’s really fair to say the keynote was lame because of it. Would you prefer Tim just came out and said “Well, you’ve already seen everything we’re going to present, so here are the shipping dates, thanks and here’s the Foo Fighters”?

A leaky supply chain means we know about the stuff ahead of time, but it’s unrelated to “lameness” of the keynote and the products which were announced.

    2. Show me an Android presentation that isn’t a total borefest. Show me ANY other company that did what Steve Jobs did in terms of presentation? Show me another company NOW that excites? Can’t think of any? Expectations just a bit too unreasonable? Sorry Tim Cook is a mere mortal fronting the best consumer device company in the world and that’s all you get. Good enough for me.

    3. Not lame at all. If you exist via rumors, then it’ll always be lame. They’d have been there all day confusing people if they announced the next generation of each and every product. Rumors are for the bored and restless.

  1. It’s everything I was expecting.

Not sure what those who are underwhelmed are looking for. I’ll be ordering mine to upgrade my iPhone 4 (I skip generations) on Friday when they open up the pre-orders.

    1. >Not sure what those who are underwhelmed are looking for.

They were expecting (or at least hoping for) something that wasn’t already leaked ahead of time.

Which is sort of liking reading a leaked script for a movie before it hits theatres, then going to it and complaining that there weren’t any plot twists and that you saw everything coming.

As was mentioned in the keynote, they significantly updated every aspect of the phone. It’s faster/more powerful, thinner, lighter, bigger/better screen, better camera, new/better software, etc… if that’s not enough, I don’t know what would have been, and I suspect they don’t either.

        1. Just, my nephew and I were playing a game together, it was a LucasArts game called The Dig, I think. My brother-in-law worked for them back then and got us free games. Anyway he sent us a book, a guide to The Dig. The bummer was that the very first time my nephew and I got stumped by the game, and we turned to the guide, the game’s sense of adventure seemed to disappear—it was to easy, too tempting, to turn to the book. We never finished the game.

Funny how that works…my brother once had a voracious appetite for experience and knowledge, but after he converted to Pentecostalism, he had the Bible, especially the Book of Revelations, which had the answers, and a personal relationship with the Holy Spirit. It seems he no longer needed a questing spirit, or science, or a sense of adventure, after that.

  2. Looks like a nice upgrade to my wife and daughter’s iPhone 4 models. The bigger screen is a welcome change, although it’s not quite big enough for my tastes. The faster processor and increased memory should also be a big plus over the iPhone 4. Nothing really revolutionary, but all-in-all a nice improvement. The new connector may be a pain to use with my speaker dock and my car interface. Hopefully the adaptor will allow things to still fit properly — we’ll see.

        1. Nice touch Jean. Yeah, if he’s a government worker he is probably already retired with free medical and an outrageous pension at 50. On our nickel. It’s why all of our communities have gone broke. Both of my for 4S’s are 64 GB. I have things that I just don’t trust to the cloud. So I opted for more storage capacity. iCloud is okay until it isn’t. Then it’s too late.

  3. From what I have seen from the images, I can’t help feeling a tad disappointed. Hopefully, seeing iPhone 5 up close will change my first impression. 16:9 TV ratio doesn’t work for me on the phones and tablets.

  4. For those about to bitch that it doesn’t offer much from the 4S, it does offer much from the 4 or 3GS.
Not to mention there is still a ton of people out there that do not have an iPhone yet.
Comparing this to the Droid crap will make their decision easier.

    1. I’m one of that ton that doesn’t have one yet. The reason is no cell coverage at my house. Sigh. But then I do get visits by deer, wild turkey, and an occasional bear, so it’s a trade… If I could get a signal, there’d be no droids allowed.

        1. True, but I’m opposed to paying twice for the service. I have to pay for the pipe to the microcell (that now has data caps) and again for the minutes used on the phone. Skype and FaceTime are your friends. 😉

  5. Cue BallMoore’s saggy wrinjly left one kvetching about how its only a 4″, and not a superior 4.125″ or 4.25″ like fandroidtards.

Also, cue the Shamscam and other iHaters that it looks mostly the same, nothing has changed, its just a stretched iPhone 4, OMG if this is all Apple can do they are doomed, just circling the bowl one last time.

And lastly, the techtooltards who are ‘disappointed’ in the iPhone 5, and are now starting the “10 things Apple MUST do to the iPhone 6 to stay in business beyond December 2012”

An of course, the obligatory stock price drop

    Did I miss anything? 😉

      1. You forgot the record sales of iPhones.

Every new model outsells the previous one.

How’s that for “lack of innovation”.

As many of the well informed have said,
“If you can do better, go design your own cell phone and sell it.”

        Otherwise you’re just a whiner.

        1. You’re “over-thinking” Think….There’s a “wink” at the end of my comment. Learn to read for Christ sake before you start whining about perceived whining.

    1. @darknite, you did miss one: essays decrying the design of Apple’s newly released gear, while grimly describing what Steve Jobs would have done, or thought, instead.

      It’s all academic, however, because…

There will be no “beyond December 2012,” remember? Apple is doomed by the end of days. So is everyone else, but at least the gawdawful kvetching will finally stop. Hey, maybe that’s the reason the Mayans pulled the chain.

  6. So many disappointed … I just don’t get it … There is a difference between innovation (flip-phone to iPhone) and iteration (3G,3GS,4,4S…) We are not going to have a surprise like we did in 2007 … That was a new invention …

Honestly I here lots of complaints but very few who can name a crazy new feature that is missing … Besides the whole giant Droid screen.

What can’t these phones do? I can’t think of much besides NFC which requires more collaboration than technology.

    1. By the sounds of your reply, it also looks as if you don’t “Think” much either.

Anyone that throws around a “fanboy” statement like that is just a Troll with nothing better to do.

And for lake of any brains, you are a idiot, so enjoy your new title today, I’m sure it will get worse as time goes by.

      1. No, I’m no troll. Just have an opinion. Just like you fanboy. I won’t call you an idiot, say that you don’t think much or say that you have a lack of brains because I don’t know you. Oh, and it’s lack of brains not lake of brains. Genius.

  7. This iPhone will break sales records.

iPhone 5: great attention to detail in the form factor, better camera, pano, faster processor, thinner, lighter, better quality display and powered by IOS 6. This will send the stock price into the next strata. Now if only Siri will cooperate and start acting like an adult. 😉

  8. I’m thinking part of the secrecy problem could be that they are trying to phase out Samesong and are trying a bunch of new suppliers. They need to bring the hammer down hard on leakers to keep the excitement level up. Does make it a bit anticlimactic. Nano was a nice surprise though.

  9. I can’t wait to get my hands on 3 of them. They made some great improvements (contrary to all the whining). All that remains to be seen is whether att will allow an early upgrade for all of us Day 1 Purchasers. They always have before but this is less than the typical one year refresh.

  10. I may need to stop reading rumors so that I can enjoy a keynote once in a while. This was the phone I was hoping for when the iPhone 4S was introduced. When my contract is up on my 4S I’ll be snapping up the iPhone that comes after this new one.

The only downside is that I will have to find new holster and case when the time comes. Very happy with this parity update.
