Mac, iPhone, and iPad user Rush Limbaugh today discussed Apple Inc., Tim Cook, and the next-gen iPhone on his radio program that, since its inception on August 1, 1988, is the highest-rated talk radio show in the United States.
The 3-hour Rush Limbaugh Show airs daily on a network of approximately 590 AM and FM affiliate stations. The program is also broadcast worldwide on the U.S. Armed Forces Radio Network. A November 2008 poll by Zogby International found that Rush Limbaugh was the most trusted news personality in the nation.

I’m not kidding. I got people e-mailing me, being depressed about the new iPhone. I kid you not. Well, I’ll tell you why. It’s because apparently everything is known about what it’s gonna be, and that’s like taking Santa Claus out of Christmas for people. Apple’s big announcement is on Wednesday, and everybody thinks they know what the phone’s gonna be. It’s gonna be a four-inch screen. It’s gonna have LTE, 4G LTE in it, it’s gonna have whatever, people know it. It’s not a new design. It looks exactly like the current phone, a little thinner. It looks just like the current phone, just a half-inch longer. But no wider. It’s gonna have a bigger screen but nothing on that screen is gonna be bigger. There’s just gonna be more space on the screen and the Apple fanboys are all depressed…
It’s amazing to track this. You know, I’m a Mac fanboy myself. So I track this stuff… It’s amazing to look at the various things people are interested in, and you can find depression everywhere, disappointment. And Apple hadn’t even said anything yet. But everybody’s convinced they know what it’s gonna be, and it’s like Santa Claus. One guy even said that Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, is so boring they better get a celebrity out there to conduct the big show on Wednesday or nobody’s gonna watch it.

For years I listened to this windbag. Had no choice, co workers played it right next to me. This is what I observed: Rush is a race-baiting, misogynistic, hateful man. He talks in blustering circles, he champions a rapid ideology not grounded in facts, and is a science denier.
Add in his multiple wives, trips to child sex tourism locations, drug abuse and Richie rich bootlicking and you are not left with much to be proud of, certainly not very conservative in real life. He even has you lemmings snowed, he has admitted on occasion that he doesn’t even believe all the crap he says, he claims to be an entertainer, as if dividing Americans was entertaining, something to be proud of..

He was wrong about Iraq war 2 – in a big way( Rush was a big fan of the attack and thought it would be a low cost short term affair. He was wrong about GW Bush ( he thought that Bush would usher in an economic boom.) Of course as time goes by he qualifies all his statements and backtracks . The trick is to get an extremely old Rush program and listen to the ACTUAL comments . Not his spin on them 3 years later. Have a nice day ditto head.

I think you need to read the story. Rush isn’t depressed. He said that people are telling him THEY are depressed, and most aren’t depressed about the phone, they are depressed that so much has leaked that there’s no surprise left.

That was my interpretation as well. And I have a similar reaction as an 4S owner (i.e., ‘meh’) after reading the pundit’s predictions over the 5.
Normally, I’d read these estimates with a grain of salt, thinking that Apple would keep one major card close to their vest and surprise everyone. But the pundits/rumor mongers have been pretty spot on lately.
Will the new iOS and hardware/bandwidth cut down on some of the lag Siri now has in answering queries? And will they immediately have adapters for all of the legacy docking peripherals? That’s what I’m curious to hear about tomorrow.

Gosh it must be wonderful to know so much about the future. But there is one thing for certain, a person needs to take profits when they can. Profits on paper can disappear in an instant. Only a fool or an inexperienced investor holds on without taking profits. It’s just investing 101. You can’t spend it if you don’t have it. You don’t have it if you haven’t taken profits. You don’t have profits if it’s all on paper. I have seen so many people make this mistake over many many years. But you can’t tell them anything. They know better because their stock has run up and they think it will run up forever. That doesn’t happen. It has never happened. It will never happen. You can stay invested long-term with one company if you wish but you have to pull profits out occasionally. It’s just common sense. Apple goes up. Apple goes down. If you sell some or all when Apple is very high guess what you can do with that money if you wait a while until Apple goes down? That’s right, you can invest in Apple! It’s not daytrading. It’s not market timing. It’s just common sense. Rule number one, never fall in love with a stock. Even a company that you are smitten with.

You expect Apple to do a yearly phone earth shattering paradigm shift equivalent to the first iPhone’s introduction? Really? You think 4G, a bigger screen, iOS 6, Apple Maps, Passbook, Ver. 1 Siri just aren’t enough? Really? Nothing less than a Transporter, Replicator, IDT: Inter-Dimensional Travel, Time Travel & Warp Drive features will satisfy you? Really? REALLY? Get a life.
Not every year, nor paradigm-changing, but remember there was disappointment right after the 4S was announced, even on MDN. That of course was quickly overshadowed by Steve Jobs’ death the very next day.
And to pre-empt the obvious comeback to that: don’t think “record sales” is some kind of proof that the 4S was a great update instead of merely good. Samsung Android sales/shipments is proof enough that isn’t necessarily the case.
“4G, bigger screen” etc… No, frankly they’re not enough. They’re incremental and expected–and in some cases, already in competitor phones. There needs to be *some* surprise feature or spec in the new iPhone. If the rumour mill got it all, then part of the thrill of following Apple is dampened.
Transporter? Replicator? Come on, no need to get all hyperbolic–even the 4S had Siri as a surprise feature.
I won’t be upgrading my 4S (company phone), but do hope to see something unexpected on Wednesday.
It will take very many more of these “boring” shows before people begin to tune out. Apple has NOT announced anything yet, and everything we’ve seen or heard so far were only rumours. I have no doubt that there will tons of people watching, following tweets and expecting in anticipation what is actually going to be announced (as opposed to what has been rumoured).
To me it appeared that Apple was on warp drive right up to and including the iPhone 4. Then they switched off the warp drive and used jet propulsors on the iPhone 4S.
If the mockups are to be believed, Apple turned off jet propulsion for the iPhone 5 and has gotten on to a bicycle for its development path. Two and a half years of…nothingness…apart from a taller screen?

Personally I am not a Rush fan, although I have nothing against him.

The story line focuses on friends of Rush reacting negatively to iPhone 5 faux news reports, not the man.
In October 2011, the same was said about the iPhone 4S. And we all know how that turned out. Record iPhone sales went on to eclipse all previous models combined.
The negative press speculation is nearly universal downplaying another iPhone revolution.
Food for thought: Model-T was a revolution over the horse and buggy. 100 years later and although the automobile is refined annually, it still has four tires.
I expect Apple to move iPhone 5 evolution forward. But probably not as much as the tech/ignorati press would like.
Who cares about the press and tech analysts. They have proven time and time again how wrong they are when it comes to Apple.

No, I’m one of Apple’s biggest supporters, but I also don’t look at them as a diety. I have seen them make many mistakes over their existence, yet they have always recovered and come back fighting strong. That is why they are a dominant force today.
I can personally say that I have no love for Flush Toilet, because he is always full of it. Maybe he should be flushed more often. However, crazily, there are times I agree with him, God that’s scary.
The man does covet technology, and why not. Without it, he would be deaf today, since his cochlear implants keep him functional in his profession. Also, his admiration of Apple’s innovations should be highly acknowledged. He is a good judge of well made technology.
With that said, many of his listeners don’t have the horse sense they were born with. To live a life based on speculated rumors doesn’t get you very far in this modern world. I’ve always known with Apple, that only seeing is believing, and that talk is cheap. When I worked for Genie over 16 years ago, Apple would always say that they would never comment
on unannounced products. I learned to live with that, it sure kept me from putting my foot in my mouth.
With that all said, I’m going to see what IS announced on Wednesday, and then wait to judge the reaction then. I’m sure that Apple’s sales will skyrocket after the announcements as well as their stock prices. Until then, I’m going to chill and watch others make jackasses out of themselves.

I’ve wondered about this too. Could Apple really throw up such a ruse as to catch the entire planet off guard? I don’t think so, but where are all the leaks concerning the iPods? Why just the iPhone and not much else? Yeah, we’ve seen some pics of the iPad mini, but that’s not a real product yet. We should have seen some iPod mock ups by now if Apple’s were suddenly such a sieve.
