You have to get to the purchase page via your installed Parallels app, “news” dialog box. There is a link to upgrade there. I think the link is unique. The link shown above did not work to get to the purchase page.
I have both VMware and Parallels. However VMware also has limitations on the OS version it runs on and also drops support. For the longest time, you couldn’t even call VMware for phone support, it was only community or email. I have had times where I got nothing from them.
The true difference between Parallels and VMware:
VMware is: enterprise capable, manageable and supports SMBIOS data, ICANN registered MAC addresses.
Parallels is: consumer driven, does not support SMBIOS data, full random MAC address unregistered with ICANN.
I called and spoke with Parallels engineers about some of these issues and felt that they were not interested in the corporate environment, (v3, at the time) They were respectful.
I had to back VMware only because I couldn’t, in good conscience recommend Parallels, though VMware had, at the same time, snubbed me on technical issues I reported to them.
They sell ‘Parallels Server for Mac’ which has not even seen one minor maintenance update for over one Full year. But they will charge for product maintenance.
A very lousy product policy.
Do not support them.
Go somewhere else.
Do they also sell a reasonably priced copy of Windows? If not, any recommendations?
Sorry the problem with Windows is Microsoft. They want their $299 for full Pro, which is the only thing they will license for Windows on Mac.
The best price for Windows full license is from OWC (macsales.com) for $259. Sometimes Amazon will have it for $244. You must get the Green Box, Windows Pro full, not upgrade and not OEM.

Not that I would ever consider screwing MS out of money, but get an OEM version of Windows 7 Professional. Last I checked, at a reputable distributor, price was $146.80 for single pack. Also sold in 3 packs.
Just installed the update. Great if you have a retina Macbook Pro. Windows now looks crystal clear on the retina display.
