Obama and Romney duke it out in battle for White House in new, free game for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch users

“Barack Obama and Mitt Romney’s battle for the White House enters the fantasy realm of hand-to- hand combat in a new video game for Apple devices that’s meant to increase voter turnout,” Cliff Edwards reports for Bloomberg.

“The candidates wield lightsabers and baton-like microphones, facing off on the debate stage, the White House lawn and finally battling for control of the Oval Office in ‘Vote,’ from Epic Games Inc.’s Chair Entertainment,” Edwards reports. “The company is offering the game free on Apple Inc. (AAPL)’s App Store. It lets iPod, iPhone and iPads users pick the president or his Republican challenger, Technical Director Geremy Mustard said.”

Edwards reports, “Chair Entertainment, maker of the popular ‘Infinity Blade’ sword-fighting game, goes a step beyond political satire by working with Washington-based Rock the Vote for the first in- game attempt to register thousands of young people to cast a ballot this November… While the game is free, users pay as much $10 for all of the upgraded weapons and outfits that include ’70s-era disco suits, ‘Super Prez’ superhero costumes and boxing gear, Creative Director Donald Mustard said. Some of the proceeds will go to Rock the Vote.”

  1. “Rock the Vote” is a left-leaning organization in that it targets the “youth vote” which almost always means naive voters who are still knee-jerking with their hearts and not yet thinking with their heads, therefore they tend to get sucked into feel-good panaceas from Dem/Lib/Prog Tax and Spend candidates.

The easily swayed, least informed youth vote is partially responsible for us being stuck with a neophyte empty suit in the White House currently.

The Hopenchangey crap isn’t going to work this time around — that’s why Obama went nearly 100% negative so early — no matter how many teenage ignoramuses you get to play a video game, Libs.

Even the most gullible of voters can now see Obama for the fraud he is.

    1. Oh please the Romney campaign is in full disaster mode. Now that he’s got the Ryan budget tied around his neck he’s going down for sure. Obama may have the youth {who haven’t learned to hate yet} Romney’s biggest support comes from non college educated white males. Talk about the “easily swayed”.

      1. You, are in for a rude awakening. I shall provide it:

Using a state-by-state analysis of unemployment and per-capita income, academics Kenneth Bickers and Michael Berry of the University of Colorado project that Romney will win 52.9% of the popular vote and 320 electoral votes.

Their forecast suggests that President Obama will lose in almost all of the swing states, including North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Colorado, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida.

Applied retrospectively, the model predicts the correct winner in every presidential contest going back to 1980.

        1980.

Read it and weep, misguided Lib:
        http://www.colorado.edu/news/multimedia/cu-study-says-analysis-election-factors-points-romney-win

Have a nice election season. Enjoy the Romney-Ryan landslide, ya hear?

        1. We shall see. Although you will probably change your handle after Romney gets trounced. Congressman Akin is just the latest disaster. Wait till the debates. I expect a major gaff from Willard about every 7 minutes.

        2. Applied retrospectively, the model predicts the correct winner in every presidential contest going back to 1980.

Keep dreaming of fantasy outcomes. You wouldn’t be a Dem/Lib/Prog if you didn’t.

        3. By the way, the reason why the media bends over backwards to make these races seem close is: M-O-N-E-Y.

If they properly reported likely voters and models such as the one I’ve linked to above, then there would be no massive spends on political ads from campaigns and Super PACs.

The media will make it seem close up until the last minute in order to keep you watching and to keep the political ad spending flowing.

This is how the game is played. Keep this in mind when you watch the talking heads on TV, listen to them on the radio, read them online, in newsweeklies or newspapers, etc.

      2. Having a Ryan budget is better than having Reid’s no budget, or an out of control spending budget of Obamas.

Remember you have 16 trillion dollars debt to pay off. When your brain catches up to reality and you have to start paying taxes, you will love the Ryan budget.

        1. We had the country on the right path in the late 90’s but the Republican party screwed the pooch. The right was offered a deal of 10 to 1 spending cuts to revenue increases and turned it down. But i suspect they will be open to tax increases on the wealthy real soon. Anything to prevent the 600 billion in cuts on their cronies in the military industrial complex. It’s funny how they think cuts in discretionary and entitlement spending will save the economy but cuts to the military budget will cause a recession. Slowly but surely the right wingers are becoming more excepting to the idea of tax increases a perfect example is what Bill Crystal said the other day about taxes. They are preparing you a little at a time so its not a total shock when they throw you under the bus to protect their cronies profits.

        2. Rubbish. They were never offered a deal of 10 to 1 spending cuts. That was a hypothetical thrown out (by the media, not the administration) to see if the Republicans would ever agree to tax increases. The fact is – and as history has shown – when they agree to tax increases they NEVER see the spending cuts.

Ask yourself why the Administration never accepted Simpson-Bowles, even though they addressed all the criteria laid out for them by the President. Even Bowles – a DEMOCRAT – blames the President for this breach of faith.

        3. Progressive Liberal Democrats (and Liberal Republicans) have never had this country on the right path!

When the government borrows 16 trillion, you are on the wrong path…too much government, too much spending!

          Have fun paying the bill!

“Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head.” – Georges Clemenceau

“If you’re not a liberal at twenty you have no heart, if you’re not a conservative at forty you have no brain.” – Winston Churchill

Variations on this quote have also been attributed to Disraeli, Shaw, and Bertrand Russell.

        1. Republicans rewrite tax laws to favor megacorporations and rich 1%. Democrats fight for the working man. Only 3% of U.S. businesses make over $250k a year, so voting Republican if you make less than that is voting against your own best interests.

        2. LOL your comment is the perfect example of how Republicans deal with the facts and thr ttruth…call someone names like a 6th grader and present no facts to refute mine…OBAMA 2012

    3. You’re right, you know! Once those kids learn the value and importance of MONEY, they’ll jump right in line with R & R, and any feelings they may have will fade away, as will the amount of taxes they pay. Their pocketbooks will be their bibles, and all will be well in the world.

    4. The Ryan pick has proven surprisingly attractive for many young voters. The job market remains bad for recent college graduates, and if they (accurately) assign primary blame to Obama’s economic policies, they’ll vote accordingly.

    5. “still knee-jerking with their hearts and not yet thinking with their heads”

You mean not yet thinking with their wallet. Which side is using their head is up for debate.
Then again, I can debate the wallet part too.

    6. So you create an account simply to troll these comments when something mildly political gets posted? Seriously dude, either republican or democrat… go outside, do something else. I mean really, you’re posting political dribble on friggin’ Apple news site.

  2. In Obama’s case it will be a twist on the whack the mole game that uses a mallet to knock someone senseless when he pops his head out of the hole. Except in Obama’s case it will be whack a socialist.

Teddy Roosevelt: “The only good socialist I ever saw was a dead one.”

        1. People like you need to learn the facts.

I am President Obama’s classmate at Columbia University, Class of ’83. Obama has a big skeleton in his closet. It’s his college records.

My bet is that Obama will never unseal his records because they contain information that could destroy his chances for re-election. Once this challenge is made public, my prediction is you’ll never hear about Mitt’s tax returns ever again.

If anyone should have questions about Obama’s record at Columbia University, it’s me. We both graduated (according to Obama) Columbia University, Class of ’83. We were both (according to Obama) Pre-Law and Political Science majors. And I thought I knew most everyone at Columbia. I certainly thought I’d heard of all of my fellow Political Science majors. But not Obama (or as he was known then- Barry Soetoro). I never met him. Never saw him. Never even heard of him. And none of the classmates that I knew at Columbia have ever met him, saw him, or heard of him.

But don’t take my word for it. The Wall Street Journal reported in 2008 that Fox News randomly called 400 of our Columbia classmates and never found one who had ever met Obama.

I can only think of one answer that would explain this mystery.

Here’s my gut belief: Obama got a leg up by being admitted to both Occidental and Columbia as a foreign exchange student. He was raised as a young boy in Indonesia. But did his mother ever change him back to a U.S. citizen? When he returned to live with his grandparents in Hawaii or as he neared college-age preparing to apply to schools, did he ever change his citizenship back? I’m betting not.

        2. Learn the facts? Your post didn’t contain any facts. And if Obama lied about being foreign to get into school i don’t really care. He was born in the USA therefore he is a US citizen. If that’s all you’ve got you might as well pack it in.

        3. Not true, TWO – if you are born on US territory, regardless of the citizenship of your parents, you are putatively a US citizen, and a native-born one at that. However, there are ways you can lose that citizenship – some of them automatic – and once lost, you can’t be considered a ‘native-born’ citizen again.

The only reason I retain even a hint of doubt about Obama’s legitimacy is that he will not unseal his college records. I don’t believe that such records, especially when applying for a job (President), should have any expectation of privacy nor any right to privacy, as opposed to tax records which have some (but not a whole lot) of privacy expectations.

I think Obama has something to hide, because he’s hiding something. What could possibly be in the college records of a legitimate, native-born US citizen who achieved everything he said he did in a manner consistent with any other US citizen’s achievements that he’d want to hide?

        4. Obama is hiding his college records because he has something important to hide. Otherwise, he’d release them, right? Or at least Photoshop them up.

      1. I am watching the GOP and the Dems quite closely as an outsider and am learning really interesting facts. The best is that raped women in the US can’t conceive. Wow. I am also learning that the GOP must support this view because the dickhead that said it is still running for the senate and has not been removed by Romney.
I imagine more cool things are still to come….fascinating!

        1. Of course they don’t really believe that nonsense. They just can’t come right out and say “we want to force you to have the baby regardless of the circumstances in which it was conceived”. They protect the unborn but once the child is here they don’t care about it anymore. Until that child is 18 that is. Then they make good canon fodder.

        2. “Todd Akin’s comments were offensive and wrong and he should very seriously consider what course would be in the best interest of our country. Today, his fellow Missourians urged him to step aside, and I think he should accept their counsel and exit the Senate race.” – Mitt Romney, Aug. 21, 2012

Mitt Romney is pro-life. He believes it speaks well of the country that almost all Americans recognize that abortion is a problem. And in the quiet of conscience, people of both political parties know that more than a million abortions a year cannot be squared with the good heart of America.

Mitt believes that life begins at conception and wishes that the laws of our nation reflected that view. But while the nation remains so divided, he believes that the right next step is for the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade – a case of blatant judicial activism that took a decision that should be left to the people and placed it in the hands of unelected judges. With Roe overturned, states will be empowered through the democratic process to determine their own abortion laws and not have them dictated by judicial mandate.

Mitt supports the Hyde Amendment, which broadly bars the use of federal funds for abortions. As president, he will end federal funding for abortion advocates like Planned Parenthood. He will protect the right of health care workers to follow their conscience in their work. And he will nominate judges who know the difference between personal opinion and the law.

Because the good heart of America knows no boundaries, a commitment to protecting life should not stop at the water’s edge. Taking innocent life is always wrong and always tragic, wherever it happens. The compassionate instincts of this country should not be silent in the face of injustices like China’s One-Child policy. No one will ever hear a President Romney or his vice president tell the Chinese government that “I fully understand” and won’t “second guess” compulsory sterilization and forced abortion.

Americans have a moral duty to uphold the sanctity of life and protect the weakest, most vulnerable and most innocent among us. As president, Mitt will ensure that American laws reflect America’s values of preserving life at home and abroad.

          Stem Cell Research

Great advancements in science are welcome antidotes to human frailty. The desire to save and strengthen the lives of those we love is noble and good, yet the promise of science does not justify discarding our moral duty to protect human life in its most vulnerable form. Scientific research and the preservation of human dignity are complementary, and America’s laws must reflect this conviction.

Stem cell research is a great scientific frontier, and it must be pursued with respect and care. When confronted with the issue of stem cell research as governor of Massachusetts, Mitt Romney chose to support life by vetoing a bill that would have allowed the cloning of human embryos. Quite simply, America cannot condone or participate in the creation of human life when the sole purpose of its creation is its sure destruction.

Adult stem cell research and alternative methods to derive pluripotent stem cells, such as altered nuclear transfer and direct reprogramming, are scientific paths that carry much promise and avoid raising ethical concerns. As president, Mitt will focus his energy on laws and policies that promote this kind of research to unlock the medical breakthroughs that our loved ones so desperately need.

          Marriage

The values that Mitt Romney learned in his home have enriched his life immeasurably. With his parents’ example before him, he married, had five sons, and now basks in the joy of eighteen grandchildren.

Marriage is more than a personally rewarding social custom. It is also critical for the well-being of a civilization. That is why it is so important to preserve traditional marriage – the joining together of one man and one woman. As president, Mitt will not only appoint an Attorney General who will defend the Defense of Marriage Act – a bipartisan law passed by Congress and signed by President Clinton – but he will also champion a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution defining marriage as between one man and one woman.

        3. Akin doesn’t really believe what he said. He just believes that there should be no abortions even in the case of rape and his statement was a fabrication to legitimize that position. The Republicans don’t want him to step down because they disagree. They want him to step down because he brings attention to the fact that Ryan sponsored legislation that redefined “rape”.

  3. I can see people voting for an out of nowhere black man. It was about time America had a black President.

I can’t see people re-electing an incompetent President no mater what race or gender.

  4. As a non-American observer, I must say I’m stupefied by the level of political discourse in America in general, as well as right here on MDN, in particular.

On a related note, it is curious how First 2010, Then 2012 continues to use his moniker, even after the fairly disappointing outcome of the 2010 election season for the republican candidates (taking into account the overall sentiment and the disastrous economic state of the country). If I remember his language at the time, he was professing (much like he is now) a landslide clean-up by the republicans; meanwhile, they apparently barely took over one chamber of the government.

Having seen recent development with American presidential campaigns (choice of the VP candidate), it is becoming rather clear that the nation wil re-elect its current president (with all the liability that he carries) rather than going with the guys with such radical slash / burn ideas.

We’ll see soon enough. I may be wrong; after all, I’m just a foreigner with no stake in this…

        Have a nice election season!

    1. You could not be more wrong.

The 2010 United States elections were held on Tuesday, November 2, 2010.

Approximately 82.5 million people voted. The Democratic Party suffered massive defeats in many national and state level elections, with many seats switching to Republican Party control. The Republican Party gained 63 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, recapturing the majority, and making it the largest seat change since 1948 and the largest for any midterm election since the 1938 midterm elections.

The Republicans gained six seats in the U.S. Senate, expanding its minority, and also gained 680 seats in state legislative races, to break the previous majority record. This left Republicans in control of 25 state legislatures, compared to the 15 still controlled by Democrats. After the election, Republicans took control of 29 of the 50 State Governorships.

My moniker not only correctly predicted 2010, it correctly predicts 2012.

    2. you may be a foreigner but do
Etimes it is clearer when you look in through the window than from the inside…American’s are not happy with the current state of affairs …. But they have seen enough improvement to continue with what they have and know than to take a chance on screwing up the improvements and going backwards with an unknown… Especially an unknown with ties to the party that screwed things up in the first place…

        1. F2T2, there are medications you can take to get rid of these delusions. Go ahead, take the red pill. It will not only bring you back reality but it will also make you stop sounding like a sycophantic asswipe.

      1. What improvements are you speaking of?

Obama preached Hope and Change… people voted for the positive aspect of that statement… and they got the negative…

No hope and pockets left with change.
