        1. Yea, I read that too. Strange that Apple didn’t mention it with the official release.
Could be Apple pulled it at the last minute or they put in a fix but they plan a better fix in 10.8.2 so they kept it quiet. Or they just decided to keep it quiet.

I just want to read it officially from Apple.

  1. Apple didn’t fix the dual monitor problem from Lion. It’s a deal breaker for me and many others that rely on spreading their work across multiple monitors. I’ll have to stick with Snow Leopard.

    1. Snow Leopard 10.6.8 is the most reliable OS in my opinion. That’s why I’m still using it. I have Mountain Lion on an external drive, but it is still too damn buggy for it to be my main OS. I guess I’ll just wait for the next update 10.8.2 to see what they fixed in it. Half of my software programs don’t support Mountain lion as of right now.

      1. I wholeheartedly agree. I have been using Lion and now Mountain Lion, since day one. But, have been considering going back to Snow Leopard ever since leaving it. I have had nothing but problems since and they are even worse now with Mtn. Lion. Thinking of another clean install and if that doesn’t work……Snow Leopard here I come!!!

        1. I’m using 10.7.4 and it is buggier than Windows XP SP3!

Is moving back to 10.6.8 much of a problem?

Only 2 GB of RAM and a 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo may be the biggest problem.

  2. hope it solves the problem of my Mac going to sleep while I’m using it! Doesn’t matter if I’m gaming or streaming music, for no reason at all, it just goes to sleep. Driving me crazy!

  3. You people really need to be patient and only upgrade an OSX upgrade when it reaches 10.x.4 or better still 10.x.6. Remember all the hoopla with Lion. Well, I upgraded at 10.7.4 and it’s been perfect. Remember also all the hoopla with Snow Leopard? I upgraded at 10.6.6 and it was perfect. Remember all the hoopla with Leopard. I upgraded on day one to 10.5.0, and it was sheer murder -spent several hours waiting on the help line. I learned my lesson. How come you guys didn’t?

  4. Here’s hoping it fixes the Time Machine error that I and many other people are having. Same errors on two good drives that pass Disk Utility checks with no issues (and have been working fine UNTIL the upgrade).

      1. Yes, that is one of the errors. Usually, you just get a generic “Time Machine couldn’t complete the backup to Time Machine.”

Before you rush to reformat, that isn’t fixing it either. I reformatted one of the drives, and it still gives errors. If you look at the Apple Support Communities, there are MANY people having the same problem.

You probably should hold off so you can possibly preserve your previous backups.

I’ve tried many different suggested solutions, and none of them have worked.

Here’s hoping they got it fixed (although I don’t see it listed on doc for this update, so I’m not too hopeful).

        1. That worked for me as well temporarily, but then a few days later, the error was back. Happened with both drives as well. Pretty frustrating, but not my only backup mechanism, so not too worried about it until they get it fixed.

        2. I just wanted to report back that so far, I am no longer having any Time Machine issues since applying the 10.8.1 update. Could be a coincidence, but so far so good…

  5. I still have intermittent audio and video hangups while playing Call to Duty 4, UT 2004, and EV Nova, I’ll just have to stay on Lion until Apple can get Mountain Lion fixed. ML is still a wreck.

  6. I’ve seen two problems with the update. First, if I use the App Store, the so-called “update” is 4.34GB, meaning that what is downloaded is the entire original OS X 10.8.0 disc image updated to 10.8.1. I instead downloaded the roughly 43Mb update from Apple Support, but it hosed my system after indicating the installation failed (twice).

So, I went back to 10.8.0 with a backup I’d just completed before I tried to update, and I am now downloading the 4.34GB 10.8.1 App Store version once again. Not good, and certainly not as good as the old days with Apple updates.

  7. After the update I still can’t log into one of my exchange email accounts. No issue pre or post 10.8.1update with Exchange 365 but I still can’t connect to my other exchange account which worked Mt Lion and still works on iPad and iPhone.

    1. Whoa! I lied! The upgrade is already installed! (Do I have this on automatic?) Too bad! Things have actually been worse since its release and the surreptitious upgrade. I’ll have to check the battery issue again though…
