“Apple this week was awarded a patent for a shock-absorbing rubber coating that helps protect fragile components like the glass display of the iPhone,” AppleInsider reports.
“U.S. Patent No. 8,248,777, entitled ‘Viscoelastic Material for Shock Protection in an Electronic Device,’ was officially awarded to Apple by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on Tuesday,” AppleInsider reports. “The filing, discovered by AppleInsider, describes a ‘boundary element’ that can deform in response to impacts to a device.”
AppleInsider reports, “The invention, credited to Christopher Prest, was first filed with the USPTO in September of 2008. It describes placing elastic materials around components to absorb at least part of an impact if the object is dropped or hit in some way.”

Regarding patents….what good are they if they are considered of no value in the sham courts of Mrs. ‘Are You On Crack’ and Mr. “Only Drug Companies Can Have Patents”.
Get a grip Miss Manners, asking if someone is smoking crack is a pretty common figure of speech. And its hypocritical to be so prim and proper all of a sudden. If Samsung suggested some insane settlement, and the Apple lawyers suggested that they must be smoking crack to think they would accept something so ridiculous there would be applause here from the very same who are holding their nose up now.. Applause, I say.
Maybe it’s a regional thing? I’m born and raised in Cupertino and the bay area where the court resides. Suggesting someone is smoking crack is about as racy as suggesting “you are nuts”
Perhaps Samsung will include that in their next tablet or phone….
